I have just downloaded the newest update on my Ipad mini.

As suggested, I downloaded the newest update on my Ipad mini. The update has put my device into recovery mode. I understand that I am to connect to itunes to prompt it out of this mode but I have not backed anything up.😟 How can I get my device workable again without losing all of my pictures etc.
