Nvidia Geforce 650m driver problem for windows 8.1 on macbook pro

Hate so much this problem 😟

Wanted to play a old game I used to (Warcraft 3) and can't get it working. Same black screen when installing nVidia drivers.

Macbook Pro Retina (Early 2013) here.

Loner I have gotten a Mid-2010 Macbook Pro with APFS High Sierra working with Windows 10 via a EFI Boot install. I have sound, bluetooth, but run into issues on the NVIDIA setup. The startup freezes unless I put the EFI Windows USB into the computer and restart and then take it out, it's weird but then the Windows 10 works. I'd love to talk to you about this scenario. What do you think I'm running into?

you're suppose to use the apple bootcamp drivers

depending on your mac the correct driver would be in

5.1.5621

or

5.1.5640

You may want to look at Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems - Apple Support to check BC versions compatible with your specific Mac model.

I have exactly the same problem. It's surprising nobody knows how to fix it

Another hint – never install Intel HD4000 driver, it'll mess everything up again.

2012 rMBP isn't supposed to work with EFI windows out of the box, and afaik 5621 drivers work fine with BIOS installations

Has this issue been fixed yet. I'm on a mid2012 retina 15" running win 8.1 and can't get drivers working properly

its the nvidia drivers from the bootcamp driver package

The culprit is more likely the OS, rather than the drivers. As a test disable/uninstall the Intel driver and test.

Oh, I will try that. This doesn't make me have to re-install Windows, I hope?

Yes, that is correct. If you are adventurous, you can try editing the PCI registers, to make the EFI expose it correctly.

A 2010 Mac is a preUEFI Mac. Can you run msinfo32 and check the BIOS mode value? What is the current version of the nVidia driver?
