Hello you all.

My macbok pro I7 was bought since 8 months ago and is this:

Macbook Pro Information

Identificador del modelo: MacBookPro9,2

Each country regulates wireless networking differently. Wi-Fi devices are restricted to certain frequencies and power levels. The client devices try to find out where they are and configure themselves accordingly. Since a wireless access point (WAP) usually does not move across national boundaries, the Wi-Fi regulatory domain (country code) is set by querying the first one to respond when the client initializes itself. You don't have any direct control over it on the client. If your device is picking up the wrong country code, and is therefore locked out of using some Wi-Fi channels or operating at full power, the only lasting solution is to fix or remove the misconfigured WAP.

To find out which WAP's are broadcasting a wrong country code, do as follows.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

/S*/*/P*/*/*/*/*/airport -s | open -ef

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.

Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V.

The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear.

A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. The first line should look like this:

SSID BSSID RSSI CHANNEL HT CC SECURITY (auth/unicast/group)

Each line below that one represents a WAP within range. Compare the two-letter code in the column headed "CC" with the ISO code for your country. The code "X0" means that the country couldn't be determined. If a WAP with a wrong code is not under your control, try restarting the computer as close as possible to your own router.

Thank again Linc, but what do you understand with last line of the instructions " , try restarting the computer as close as possible to your own router."

I Am on Dlink router dir 868L but due to 802.11n incompatibility of macbookpro I can't connect to the wifi hotspot when router, in mode 2,4ghz, was setup on 802.1n only

do you have any other idea to change ISO country code?

thank you For your time and help!!

Hi Linc, y tried many ways to reset, near to the router.

The Router was setup up in mixed 802.11 n/ and g

This is the information in the terminal:

SSID BSSID RSSI CHANNEL HT CC SECURITY (auth/unicast/group)

Telsu_PACC 02:02:71:35:52:0a -88 1 Y -- WPA(PSK/AES/AES) WPA2(PSK/AES/AES)

wifitelsur_hjee 00:25:c4:5b:db:71 -83 11 N -- WEP

Telsur_Suarez c0:8a:de:6f:5c:61 -63 11 N -- WEP

wifitelsur_GAHL 02:02:71:2a:fc:01 -68 11 N -- WEP

Telsur_JIDE 02:02:71:1a:c3:f9 -84 6 Y -- WPA(PSK/AES/AES) WPA2(PSK/AES/AES)

HDEZULLOA 78:54:2e:fa:22:d0 -25 6 Y -- WPA(PSK/AES,TKIP/TKIP) WPA2(PSK/AES,TKIP/TKIP)

As you see, no info at: SSID BSSID RSSI CHANNEL HT CC SECURITY (auth/unicast/group) 😟

I don't lose hope yet 🙂

Thank you!

What do you suggest to start looking for....

1.fix my router if is possible in admin setup or

2. Find a new router with this feature

Thanks

Update: Dear Linc, Look this. I am at work now, and i try to connect to the guest WAP after i posted this message.

Surprise, these change de LAOS country code to US and now 802.11/n, but still left to /ac This is the reason for i bought a 868L dlink router to use 5ghz.

I re-ask the question.

What do you suggest to fix my ROUTER.

1.fix my router if is possible in admin setup or

2. Find a new router with this feature

here some hints of my configuration:

1. My ISP provider, provides a optics fiber router brand ZYXEL model ZNID24-xx and my dlink router DIR 868L is behind connected to LAN port1.

2. DIR 868L 2,4 ghz wireless network setup in mixed /g /n Channel 1. (I tried every channel in only /n )

3. Update the last firmware for DIR868L

Thank you!

best regards

Jul 14, 2014 10:01 AM in response to Loner T

Hello Loner,

When :

At home connected to DIR 868L router i have LA

When

At work connected to guest hotspot i have US

For both locations i am in the same country and City, Country Chile: CL, City Osorno. 😕

I think MBP change the location depending of the country that router indicates. This could be for adjust power wireless in countries where havent legal regulations for new frecuencies.

So like Linc says, the problem is on router and configuration not at my MBP.

but the question is, can i change this by software option? or i have to change the routers? 😟

As you can see, 802.11n is available when the card thinks it's in the U.S. (which is, of course, still wrong) because 802.11n is legal in the U.S. It will never show 802.11ac, because it's too old for that. As for your router, I don't know anything about it. If it can be configured to broadcast a country code, you would have to get that information from the manufacturer.
