Using iTunes 11.3 for Mac but it does not see my iPhone 5, every time i plug in my devices iTunes just hangs and i have to force quit? How do i get my devices syncing again? It does this with my iPad as well.

I recently upgraded to iTunes 11.3 on my Mac which is running the new OS X 10.9.4 but when i go to sync my iPhone 5 and iPad, iPhoto see's that the device is connected and opens immediately but in iTunes it just hangs. In the top right hand corner i can see it registers iPhone but from there the little mac wheel just keeps turning and turning. I eventually have to force quit iTunes and inside the force quit menu, it says iTunes "not responding". Is there anything else i can try to get my devices to start syncing again as i rely on my calendars a lot.

Thanks.

Back up all data.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices

Right-click or control-click the line and select

Services Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash. Relaunch the application and test.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select

Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Hi, thanks for this. I am so not a technical person so i am really trying to follow your advice above, so please bear with me. I got to see the SyncServices folder which was selected. When i opened that folder there was nothing else selected. However there was a file in there called "Local" (which just looked like a plain white page). From what you said in the above i take it that i did not see the so called contextual menu item? Am i correct? Or is "Local" the contextual menu item?

Really sorry to do this to you!

Linc Davis: superb. I' ve been holding of saying anything until i'd tested it. 3 times in the last couple of months iTunes has hung. EVERYTIME iTunes hangs this suggestion sets it right. I'd gotten so very tired of deleting and rebuilding itunes. I'd send you money, if I had any. I can send you great Thanks!
