Crashing at Startup with Waves AU

I am crashing at startup with the waves plug ins. My system was fine before I started using Audio Units Manager. After that Logic will crash. So I trashed the prefs. trashed Audio Unit Manager and re installed the waves plugins and the waveshell AU driver from a fresh download. Still no luck. I used to work fine when I dragged the AU plug ins to another folder to use FCP then drag them back to the components folder to use Logic. How can I fix this?? - Thanks
BTW- Logic boots fine if I keep the waves stuff out of the components folder

What version of the Waveshell are you running? If you're using an original version 5 from your installer, then it won't work. It wasn't until a late beta version of 5 that started passing validation and working correctly in Logic.

Log in to your account at the Waves site and download the latest version or the beta version that passes validation (that's what I'm using without problems).

Bee Jay - Thanks for the reply . I may be brain dead but I cannot find where to download just the wave shell. Last night I downloaded the whole Gold native package so I could get a fresh wave shell. After I installed it I got 2 waveshells in the components folder. WaveShell-AU_5.0.1.component and WaveShell-AU_5.2.component . These are the same versions that were working till just the other day. can you post the link to the Beta driver? or tell me where it is on the waves site? I think I am going BLIND!! Thanks -Chad

I would imagine if you're using 5.2 you should be Ok.

I had a quick look in my Waves account - I'm pretty sure the beta used to be there on the Downloads page, but it doesn't seem to be there any more, which suggests that the beta was rolled into the 5.2 full update, which seems likely.

The version I'm using is 5.0.1b4

It might be worth posting in the Waves forum about the issue as well...

I am trying to use Logic Pro 6.4.3 with WaveShell-AU_5.0.1.component AND WaveShell-AU_5.2.component loading at the same time. As it was installed by the waves installer. That set up worked fine till I brought Audio Units Manager into the mix and that is when my trouble started. So now my problem is not downloading the waveshell but getting Logic to work again after Audio Unit Manager messed it all up. I wrote an email to there tech support last week and still no word. Today I made a new user and tried to trick the Waves Gold to load buy no go. I have spent so much time on this that spending $250 seems like the only way to fix it. ARG! I wish I did not mess with my system when it was all working fine. I guess I learned this lesson AGAIN!!

When you say "Audio Units Manager" are you talking about Logic's AU Manager, or some third party application? Is it the Granted Software one?

If so, my versions of Waves 5 work well with them both. All that the Granted AU Manager does is move the component files (ie the Waveshell) between two directories to enable or disable the plugins, it won't affect Waves crashing at all.

Without knowing what you did when things stopped working it's difficult to say, but it may well be a Waves installation, copy protection or authorisation issue, they can be notoriously odd behaving sometimes.

Incidentally, why do you need two Waveshells? I think Logic only supports one of Waves' Waveshells at a time, at least it did in Logic 5, not sure about later ones.

Not sure what else to suggest, really...

Bee Jay - Thanks for the input. Yes I am referring to the Granted Software product. I often wondered why there were 2 waveshells in the components folder. I will try again today to make it work. Maybe the iLock is messing up?! I went to the waves site and logged onto my account and it says that it is authourized. I will let you know when I figure it out.
