Will iWeb still work in Yosemite?

Looks like at last there is a simple software replacement for iWeb with Everweb. I am presuming that you can publish FTP to your own already established hosting service. It is good to see a drag and drop WYSYGIG app. I first liked Claris Home Page (many moons ago!!) and then iWeb was just perfect until the Apple Support stopped...

I groaned when I looked at Freeway which someone tried to tell me was as easy as iWeb - then was not keen on Web2 type software working on cloud based software. So if there is some longevity, I think Everweb could be the answer BUT I guess transferring from iWeb is not going to be an option and one of my existing website has at least 100 pages..

I will now try to set up my sites in EverWeb..

It would be nice if Apple had continued to support iWeb but as everyone says - its just not going to happen.

I Definitely agree with you. Apple need to give iWeb back to us. I cannot live without iWeb if it does not work on Yosemite. Why did Apple Kill a very good website builder App. Apple please consider to bring iWeb back.

I looked at and downloaded Ever Web but it seems to not work with standard FTP only using an account on their own server. This is not what I want. I am happy to buy software and would hope in 2014 the simplicity of iWeb could be obtained. How strange it is that in all the software in the Mac App Store there is no web design software. Surely this is something users would really like.

Now Yoshemite has has been released hopefully this discussion list will come up with definitive answers on whether iWeb is still functioning.

No, this is not correct about EverWeb. If you purchase the stand alone version of EverWeb, then you can most definitely use standard FTP to upload and you DO NOT need an account of their server.

This has probably happened because you downloaded the trial version of the software and it is restricted. Purchase it and it will work with ordinary FTP.

EverWeb does have the simplicity of iWeb, but with a lot more features and it is a lot better and you can do more things with it all from inside EverWeb without the use of third party alternatives like you had to use with iWeb - drop down menus built in is one good feature, a built in contact form, paypal widgets, built in SEO and lots more.

Of course there is website design software for sale in the App Store - you can't have looked very far - Freeway is sold there, along with Sandvox, Rapidweaver and Flux V all of which is web design software.

Nobody knows this unless they have downloaded Yosemite already and are still using iWeb.

Apple for rid of iWeb when they got rid of MobileMe 2 years ago now as when MobileMe went, there was no need for iWeb any longer.

Don't hold your breath because they will not bring it back anytime soon.

iWeb has gone, so get over it and move on to other software that is fully supported.

iWeb works just fine in the official release of Yosemite.

Just ran it, created a site and exported to a folder. All good.

You you just can't post sites to MobileMe.

Thanks for that info re Yoshemite. I have hundreds of project pages in iWeb and reconstructing in Easy Web will be time consuming. Strangely Easy Web is not available through the Apple App Store and required password permission to install..

Although programs such as Freeway may be available in the App Store I do not consider then in the same class as iWeb for simplicity. I have tried a full purchased version Freeway and it is far from intuitive.

SO I will limp on with iWeb (it does not matter to me about the lack of MobileMe as I use a different host from very early on). Maybe I will have retired by the time it stops working. The files can always be transferred to a vintage Mac running older OS anyway

Please look carefully whose post you are actually responding to. It was not me who asked whether iWeb would work with Yosemite.

Also, keep up - MobileMe has not existed for over 2 years now, so yes, that is obvious that you cannot publish iWeb to MobileMe because it does not even exist and most people know this already and its replacement iCloud does not and never has offered a hosting option.

The software is not called EasyWeb, but EverWeb - it was renamed sometime ago, so it might be a good idea to get the name right first.

No EverWeb is not available to purchase from the App Store and may or may not be at sometime in the future. I think Rage wanted to keep it separate and sell it themselves through their own site.

If you don't like Freeway, then take a look at WebAccapella. This is quite easy to use.

Also, MobileMe has not existed for over 2 years now, so this is old information and most people moved on long ago.

EverWeb, not Easy Web, does NOT require a password to be installed. Just download it and start using it. What does it matter if it is available in the App Store or not? You can just download it from the internet.

It is the closest thing to iWeb you will find anywhere and it is a fantastic web page designer.

IIf you actually knew anything about App Store apps which are checked out by Apple before being listed and apps installed from the Internet you would actually know that you need to verify installing on your computer by using your computer log in PASSWORD. It's a protection the OS uses against aberrant apps. Don't worry about apologising. Your email did not contribute as a previous writer had noted Ever instead of Easy.

Tha problem for me with Everweb, it doesn't support drag and drop image. I got a sport website during the summer and replace about 30 images per week (which they are statistic board) . With iWeb I can just drag the new board with the same x,y every week and this is very fast.

With ever web, I need for each image to navigate in the finder and find the image one by one and select it to import in the web page.

This is a non sense and take me too long to do.

With iWeb, it was a breeze. I didn't find an alternative to that yet anywhere,

I can't imagine how amazing if Apple do not stop to support iWeb, with an iOS version to be able to make some update to our website on the go. This can be another advantage of the iPhone over competition.
