MBA mid 2011 2.9 Firmware update just killed by Air

I have a mid 2011 13 Macbook Air.

I downloaded and installed the (MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.9) latest Apple firmware update.

The update seemed to install fine, then asked for a reboot.

The MBA shutdown and never came back on.

Tried SMC reset, with and without power adapter. Nothing. The thing is dead.

Out of warranty. No Applestore in this country (Greece). Retailer I bought it from doesn't want to know about it.

Local "official" Apple support will try and fix it for a fee of course.

Thank you Apple.

Thanks for your reply. The problem is NOT the restoration of the firmware. They did it. The mainboard was changed, then the older EFI-version was implemented, the MB ran again. Then, connecting to the internet the App-Store told me to update the EFI. I called the apple support, the lady there told me to update the EFI, cause the problem was not the EFI update, it was the problem of the mainbord and the hardware can not go defect by updating software, so the words from the apple support lady.

I did the update and the MacBook Air was dead again. First working fine, but going into the sleep mode I could not reawake it. Same problem as before. Official apple support partner told me he has tu change the mainboard again and I should pay Euro 600,- again. But for Euro 1.200,- i get a brand-new MB Air.

I will see what apple recommends or does.

I also installed the latest EFI update. Now the facetime camera on Mid-2011 Macbook Air 11" will not work at all. Prior to this update, I had just finished a FaceTime meeting. All I get is that the camera is not found.

I have tried resetting the SMC, installing the OS from new, etc. Nothing has worked. I called Apple and they wanted me to send it in for repairs.

I was having this issues but I had no idea what was causing it. The mac would freeze on sleep and would not reboot. It would not find a bootable drive. I replaced the SSD and it worked for a while until the problem started again. Then I replaced the logic board. The computer would run smoothly and quit. the following night a software update said a EFI update was recommended. I did so and the computer did not boot up.
