Nano emits high-pitched whine or buzz

My Nano is working properly and sounds fine, however it emits a high-pitched whine or buzz that is audible if you hold it close to your ear. Is this normal? I had assumed that a flash player with no moving parts would operate silently.

Hi guys, I think I have found a solution. It worked for my iPod. First rest your iPod, and while it loads push the center and left button at the same time and hold it for about 5-7 seconds, until you can see the diagnostic mode. Enter Power, and then ACC switch. Turn it on and reset one more time. The buzz should be gone.

Mine emits a click sound every so often- just randomly- and it WILL NOT turn on. I have tried resetting it but I am afraid to plug it into the computer to charge it because of the noise it is making. I don't want to hurt the computer. Or my i-pod. This is brand new- I just got it YESTERDAY and the only thing that I could've done to make it screw up so bad is disconnecting it from the computer. (Even though the 'Do Not Disconnect' sign wasn't on there anymore so I thought it was safe to disconnect.) I have an i-pod nano. PLEASE RESPOND. I am so flustered right now.

that did absolutly nothing. the acc switch turned itself off again. the colour tester thing was pretty cool though.

i first heard about the problem in a video on youtube.
im now paranoid, thinking that i can hear the noise when i cant. its only audible when about 5cm from my ear How many peoples' whines actually loud enough to be heard from distance?

strange, internet explorer cannot open this thread. firefox can...
my dad automatically said that it sounded like radio interference. no too sure bout that but hey.

in reference to the comment about the flatspeaker on the back of the case: ( http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/4352/ipodnano2ndgev9.jpg)

it seems to me as if it must be this. when i press mine to my ear it comes from roughly that position and is louder at the back.
whether its a defect or just one of those things, dunno.

so you're now suggesting that a few hundred people
have tinnitus. yep ok.

I can sit in a room, air tight, and start to fabircate noises in my head. Has anyone actually said that their iPod is defective? It doesn't sync, backlight doesn't work, USB broken (not the PC power issue), click wheel broken. Yes a few but those are physical, real defects. Does my car's engine make noise, **** yes, guess what so does an iPod. Solid state or not, if there is electricity there will be noise.

Has Apple's QA gone down from the shift to intel, yes. But come on, there are too many troll's and wackies in this forum.

i know alot of people are just being fussy. i can hear the noise but im not planning to send off the ipod. i was only wondering if it was a defect or if it was just one of those things...
no point in having a go at me. i wasnt actually being serious when i said the above thing. it probably is partly imaginary. i mean, when you do hear it, you are going to become a bit paranoid and imagine it louder than it is.
