What software can I buy to clean my Mac or run a system check?

My Mac is running slow and has embedded links to other sites I don't want to go to.

Thank you for your information. I do not want any other software on my computer.

I do have a question about cleaning the caches and launch stuff, and taking the history off the internet. When I had a problem (internet froze due to malware, I believe) I called Apple and they worked me through the process, but it was a process of cleaning out the cache and launch, and getting rid of my internet history. Since this was recent, should this not still be something to consider?

Hello,

I don't really know what happened except it seems it started after a Clean My Mac session, during which I was prompted every 4 seconds to install some kind of LIPO program ('The lipo command requires the command line developers tools. Would you like to install the tools now?' ).

I selected Not Now option button. After that, all **** seemed to break lose on the OS.

I tried to look for a solution, which led me to needing the Terminal app. And then I noticed it was not launching. At all. No message. It bounces not even once before disappearing. This lead me to more research, and to the App Store.

Same problem, the App Store doesn't launch. It sort of bounces before closing right away. And Photobooth doesn't work either. Nor does Safari.

SO BASICALLY, ALL SYSTEM APPLICATIONS ARE NOT WORKING. iTunes works fine, all other third party apps seems to be working just fine like Google Chrome, VLC, etc.

During my Clean My Mac session, I noticed it cleaned a lot from the Language section, not sure if related or not.

Thank you to anyone that tries, it's greatly appreciated!

In all likelihood CMM has managed to delete enough of your system that you now need to uninstall CMM and then reinstall OS X once again. Hopefully that will fix the damage done by CMM.

If not you will need to reformat and and reinstall everything except for CMM from scratch again.

Normally I am a strong advocate against doing a reformat and reinstall of everything but in the case of systems damaged by CMM it has been the only way to repair all of the damage that CMM can do to the system.
