A web site is able to check what browser you claim to be using.

What is my user agent?

http://whatsmyuseragent.com/

In the olden days some websites got this check wrong. The work-around was to change your user agent to something the site supported like IE.

Look for an Addon the allows you to change your claimed user agent.

There are two techniques for checking browser capability

1) The simplistic but not recommended way is to check on what your agent you claim to be using.

2) Check the capabilities of whatever your browser supports. If the web site needs to use css, it checks whether or not the browser supports css. This is the perferred way of doing things.

Mr. Oldfart 😉

I'll betcha it doesn't happen every time does it? Likely another "Glitch du jour" <- not coined by me, I just like it

It has been said that it is the JiveWare misreading the User Agent. Seems to me that might not be possible, as the JiveWare is GIVEN the browser info BY the browser, is it not? I am not saying that the JiveWare is incapable of misinterpreting what it is given though!

With these new browsers, Could be easy (however unlikely) to tell Firefox or Safari (in this case) what user agent to use:

User uploaded file

Maybe a little of both at fault, but my $ is on the misinterpretation.

A lot of error messages are generic. What I mean is the programmer found some error and makes a guess as to what the problem is. The developers of these forums found some problem when initiating the download of one of these forum web page. The developer wrongly figured that any such problem with downloading a web page was because of user was running ie6.

What do you do? Your guess is as good as mine. I'd try:

-- erasing all cookies associated with these discussions

-- clear the cache

-- TRY another web browser
