I don't have an 'Apple About this Mac' window so can't find my serial number. And how the **** do I delete garage band stuff - it won't go to the trash bin but just keeps saying it is 'stopping' but never does. Jesus! Am I so stupid?
Every mac has a main menu bar with the -menu in the upper left corner of the screen. This menu has the "About this Mac" menu entry. Have a look.
Don't post your serial numbers here in the public forum, but your MacOSX version and GarageBAnd version would be good to know.

What exactly are you trying to trash? The GarageBand application, or GarageBand projects?
If moving to the Trash is stuck, relaunch your Finder:
Go to the -menu and select "Force Quit". From the panel select "Finder" and press "Relaunch". This will quit any copying or trashing and you can try again. But what do you want to delete? There may be a permissions problem.
