UK app needed but currently in New Zealand

I am from the UK but I am currently in New Zealand, so currently have a New Zealand iTunes account. Can I temporarily switch it back to a uk one so I can download an app which is only available at the UK store and then switch it back to New Zealand? and still access the app of course.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

The store's terms of use say that you need to be in a country to use its store e.g. UK store :

The Service is available to you only in the United Kingdom. You agree not to use or attempt to use the Service from outside this location. iTunes may use technologies to verify your compliance.

By not being in the same country you are risking having your account disabled.

You need to be here in the UK with a UK billing address on your account to download items from the UK store.

Hi KP, as you may know I move around from the US to the UK like a butterfly. I have 2 accounts (UK and US) and they both work as expected. In the UK I can login to the US store, purchase and download apps, same applies in reverse, I can log into the UK store while in the US.

So I don't think you're correct in that you must be in the same country as the store, you just need a viable account/bank billing address in the country.

You could be on Mars (assuming you could get an internet connection) 🙂

To the OP I would suggest that you try the English account credentials (you should get a message that you are being connected to the UK store)

Thanks for your responses guys. So if I open 2 iTunes accounts I can then use either to on the same device, ie my iPad???

Also, another thought as in case I can't get the billing address side of it to work, I could in theory get my friend to log into her (UK) iTunes account on my iPad and then download it onto my iPad, then sign out then resign in under my account??

Thanks🙂

If you use your friends account to download an app that app will be associated with your friends account for ever. You'll need to login to her account in order to update it, and it is a licensing violation I'm afraid.

KP's warning (possible account suspension) is new to me and I have not had an issue, but that may just be blind luck.

Not sure what to suggest now 😟

But do you think I 🙂could do what I suggested? did you used to download apps from both the states and uk to one device and did the apps work even though you were not necessarily in the country at the time? Thanks

Yes, I have downloaded apps when not in the same country as the store, I am signed into one account (in iTunes) and the other one is authorised for apps and music.

However, I was unaware of the prohibition and the possibility of an account suspension. I have not had that happen to me but apparently it can. So I will think more carefully the next time I need an app and am not at home. (although an inability to buy an app simply because I am on vacation, or working overseas seems overly restrictive to me)
