I just updated my Mac from Mountain Lion OS to Maverick OS, but the photo booth effect look different. They seem lighter or highlighted through a filter. Is there any way I can get my old photo booth back?

The Photo Booth app is different from iPhoto. I'll ask the moderators to move this topic to the Mavericks community.
Photo Booth is bundled with Mavericks. You cannot use a previous version.
But perhaps the current Photo Booth can produce whatever effect you're seeking. See:
