13" Retina Macbook Pro slight trackpad lag

I just got my new retina macbook pro 2 weeks ago, 2.8ghz i5, 8gb RAM, 500gb storage.
It has been running smoothly whatsoever, but now i am noticing a slight lag when i move the trackpad. It only occurs, sometimes, if i let go of the trackpad for approx. 5 seconds or more, and i have to say that it is a very brief (<0.5 seconds) lag, but very annoying over time when you start noticing it.
To me it seems like a UI lag, because i have no other problems with the trackpad - the lag only occurs during "the first touch" so to speak, the only real way for me to describe it is, as if the trackpad has to wake up when it hasn't been used for a few seconds. I have already tried to reset PRAM and SMC - and no background processes seem to be eating up CPU.....
Any thoughts? Is this common behavior or?

Thanks in advance!

Well I "fixed" it, but now my bluetooth doesn't work but I don't use it anyway.

I don't recommend this at all I was just playing around with some hunches I had.

I played around with kernel-extension and removed some kext's and suddenly it was gone, but it was like I had an external mouse plugged because all the scrollbars were visible (I had "show all scrollbars when mouse plugged in" setting on, changed now). I have since restored all the kext's but BT still doesn't work (it says disconnected). But computer feels more responsive and fluid. Mouse, keyboard and volume buttons doesn't lag.

I THINK it was IOBluetoothFamily.kext and IOBluetoothHIDDriver.kext that "fixed" it, not sure though, I removed some AppleUSB- and IOUSB-kext's too 🙂

So heres what I did (you need admin-password), again, NOT RECOMMENDING THIS:

- in terminal:

sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions/

- in finder go to /System/Library/Extensions

- Copied the kext's to some safe place

- Removed the kext's from /Extensions

- Did a SAFE EMPTY TRASH

- Reboot

- Copied the kext's back in and reboot again (not sure if this did anything)

I would say do one kext at a time cause I'm not sure which one it was that "fixed" it, if someone wants to test some it would be cool. But heres the kext's I removed (caused I was ****** and just wanted something to happen) again NOT RECOMMENDING, DON'T BLAME ME IF OS X DOESN'T LIKE IT 😟:

IOBluetoothFamily.kext

IOBluetoothHIDDriver.kext

IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext

IOUSBAttachedSCSI.kext

IOHIDFamily.kext (I THINK, can't remember 🙂)

AppleUSBTopCase.kext

AppleUSBMultitouch.kext

AppleHIDKeyboard.kext

AppleHIDMouse.kext

Very good observations and great work, thanks a lot!!! - now at we least know that it can be fixed, next step would be for the apple engineers to realize it, which might be the trickiest part of it all haha.

If you can fix the problem by deleting a small amount of kernel-extensions, then the engineers should be able to as well without interfering with the Bluetooth (sorry to hear about your loss 😟).

A very good day to you, and thanks again for the detailed description! We are finally moving forward! 🙂

No way I`m coming back to the claws of PC. I am absolutely fond of every single little feature of Mac OS X and the rMBP itself. Suffice to say, I am a long-life Android user and Android smartphones advocate. Now, after having bought rMBP, I feel a slight craving to buy an iPhone! Just for the sake of having a Apple laptop and for the possibilities of synchronization between Apple devices. 😀 Still, I hope for this bug to be resolved asap.

I am however, having the same problem with my external Apple magic trackpad, and my external Apple Keyboard. If they are untouched for about 1-2 seconds, there is a VERY noticeable lag at first touch. Up to halv a second, every time.

This is *exactly* what I am experiencing -- bluetooth trackpad, 13" MBPR (mine is a late 2013).
