Some videos and photos cannot be deleted from iPad to create space, how do i do this

If photos were synced from your computer then they can't be deleted directly on the iPad, you will need to remove/de-select them from where you synced it from on your computer and re-sync.

Photos in albums that were copied to the iPad by syncing with your computer are removed by doing another sync. Connect your iPad to the computer you normally sync with and run iTunes on the computer. Select your iPad in iTunes and select the photos tab. Then deselect the unwanted albums. Finally click on Apply or Sync. the photo albums will remain on your computer but they will be deleted from the iPad.

The one thing that has been overlooked in your post is that if you see the trash can at all, the photos could not have been synced to your iPad. You don't see the trash can icon with synced photos since they cannot be deleted via the trash can. In addition to that point, you did say that these were photos and videos that you took with the device.

Perhaps what you are seeing are cached/ghost images and they don't really exist on the iPad. Have you closed the photos app completely and reset the iPad? This may not work, but it is worth a try, easy to do and you will not lose any data.

In order to close apps in iOS 7, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.

Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Not sure if you are still following this, but thank you. I finally was able to get rid of all the photos on the iPhone I inherited from my wife. I had tried a whole bunch of other things that didn't work and I was going nuts trying to figure it out. You da man!
