I'm looking for the glyphs that are on the Apple Keyboards for dashboard, expose, etc. I found this tip Symbols I can't find in Unicode, but it's geared for Snow Leopard. How do you change the font in the character viewer in Mavericks to show these?

If you need the non-Unicode symbols, you will need to use another app like Ultra Character Map where you can see all the glyphs in the Apple Symbols font. Whether these glyphs can be used in any particular application you will have to test.

Thanks for this information. I've been trying this, and the symbols aren't there.
First Expand the Character Viewer if necessary:
OS X Mavericks: Enter special characters and symbols
Then go to the gear wheel at top left, select customize, and check box for Technical symbols
Keyboard glyphs (dashboard, expose, etc)
