how to replace the inverter cable? screen gone black in MacBook

Hi

There is no apple service provider in my location. Can I replace the inverter cable without having to take the MacBook to an apple store? is it easy to do? and can I use any inverter cable? or does it have to be especially designed for Macbook?

I have a black Macbook. The screen used to go black sporadically, and now it has totally gone black, and I couldn't get it to work again.

Any advice????

Thank you

MacBook

Your issue may be the inverter board and not the cable. Usually with a cable the issue comes and goes when you move the screen, but not always. Unless you're sure throwing parts at a MacBook can get expensive. Whatever you replace will have to be genuine Apple parts. Wether you can replace it or not depends on your skill level and courage. There are step by step guides for the repair here https://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook

You'll have to find the correct guide for your exact model since you didn't offer any information.

No, simply stating that you have a black macbook is like calling an auto repair shop and saying that you have a black car and asking what's wrong with it.

The pre uni body black and white plastic MacBooks were introduced on May 16, 2006 and discontinued October 20, 2009. That three plus year span included both core duo and core 2 duo models that were different enough that before offering specific advice one needs to know exactly which model is being discussed.

If you have a problem I'd suggest starting your own thread, with specifics, in order to hopefully get answers that fit your specific situation.
