Boot Camp
How do I install a version of win Pro to a boot camp partition in Mavericks?
How do I install a version of win Pro to a boot camp partition in Mavericks?
Let me be clear. I have a MS version of XP Pro that I want to continue using, rather than give any more money to MS. I run OS 10.9. Can I do this? I sure hope so.
Thank you,
Jay
It appears you'll need to use a virtual machine.
Check your computer against the table in this article.
Or you can run Windows in a virtual machine, which saves having to reboot to Boot Camp. This allows you to access Mac OS and Windows from one boot.
Exactly what do you need to run that requires Windows?
If you have previously installed this version of Windows under an older version of OS X, you are still using exactly the same Mac, and you still have the Windows drivers disk OS X created with the older version of Boot Camp; then yes, you can use that version of Windows.
That's the only real difference between each successive version of OS X. Apple only writes Mac hardware drivers for certain versions of Windows supported by that version of OS X. For Mavericks, supported Macs only get drivers for Windows 7 or 8.
Just run Boot Camp as always to create your Windows partition, ignore the step to create a drivers disk, and install Windows. Once Windows is installed and it boots to the Win desktop, then install the model specific drivers you already have.
