how to setup crontab

I am new to Mac osx, I recently would like to set up a cron job, as I learn from some web site that,

I have to follow the following steps:

> go to terminal

> input "crontab -e"

how ever nothing happened.


would anybody provide me with a more detail, step-by-step instructions in how to set up a crontab job in the mac osx.

That’s not how you schedule tasks on OS X any more.

It can still be used, though. You should have been taken into the vim editor where you could enter the cron jobs.

You would have to learn how to use vim, which I am not fluent at.

The way you should do it is with launchd, using launchctl to load the configuration plist file.

The easiest way to create those launchctl config files is with Lingon. However, you can create the plist manually with any text editor.
