My iPhone sounds a chime on the hour and quarter hour, but only certain times of the day. I've searched how to turn this off, and cannot find how to. I have NOT installed an alarm app.
It may be an email setting. Or a calendar alert. You need to search through your iPhone and find out what you have turned on that is alerting you. The iPhone will not chime on its own.
Westminster can be set to chime on the quarter hours.

I have no recollection installing an app that would sound a chime on *some* hours and *some* quarter hours. The chime is unique (i.e. no other apps make this alert sound). Is there any way of exposing the app that is doing this? I've attempted to go through every app and turn off the "Sound" option. I would like to avoid resetting my iPhone to factory defaults and reinstalling apps and losing data.
There really isn't any other way. I've read posts about this in the past where it turns out to be a game that's setting off a chime at some weird hour every day.
It would still take a while but you might be able to find some ideas by searching for something like "apps that cause an hourly chime iPhone" in your favorite search engine. You might see the name of an app you have pop up somewhere.

I want that app! I’m looking for something that does shorts beeps or something like the digital watches back in the day. It helps when you go off track or have ADD or just need reminders throughout the day. Westminster app helps but the on the hour takes too long sometimes.
There is some app you have installed that is doing this. It is not a function of any built in app on the phone.
Got an iPhone 6 now and no more chimes! 🙂
