How to turn off findmyiphone on a damaged screen
I have an iphone 4S with iOS 7.1.2. I left it on the car yesterday, it fell off in traffic. When I finally realized what happened, I was able to find it. The screen is destroyed but the rest of the phone surprisingly works. No issues with the ringer volume, data/ charge port, ringing, etc. I've submitted a warranty claim but would like to do a factory restore ("Restore iPhone") via iTunes before sending it in. I have a passcode protected phone and it apparently has findmyiphone enabled. I am at a loss here on how to turn off that feature as it's required to be off before doing a full restore. I've gone in to iCloud > Find My Iphone on my PC and removed this phone from the account.
Luckily my wife was able to use her upgrade today so I just activated my number on her old 4S. I'm now thinking this may have screwed the potential for turning the feature off on my old phone.
Gurus, please help.
