My phone shutdown while 30%battery. I went to get Iphone 5 battery replace (for free program iphone 5 battery replacement) They check and my phone is eligible to get it free but the staff claim that my phone screen bent and won't replace battery.

They mention to replace the new phone but I have to pay 260$

is this the best option?

Ok Cracked Screen is different from a bend, and like other people who were in similar situations they were told it couldn't be done for scratches, please tell me what that has to do with the battery

Any kind of distortion of the phone could cause problems with a battery installation. However, it doesn't matter what we tell you. Apple makes the decision. Call AppleCare and ask to speak to a supervisor. Plead your case politely. They may make an exception.

I still don't see the bending of the screen and can't tell by look at it with my own eyes. I don't understand why the apple staff said it's bend.

my phone is in bookbook 5 case and so I don't notice any change of the screen. I will try to get it replace again with other shop and see what best I can do form this point. Maybe I need to pay to get new phone.

Thats what a non apple phone repair guy said to me, he looked at it today and was baffled that they said they couldn't do it because of this bend.

He did say that some Apple stores (in terms of repairs) are better than others, you may want to try another Apple store, the busier

ones are better, Don't go for one that is closer to you like I did, while I was waiting at the store I saw the reviews and they were terrible when it came to repair

issues. I had my phone in solid cases since I purchased it and never put it in my back pocket.

Keep in mind if you have already been into the store, Apple will have opened a case against your iPhone and noted it is bent.

Thanks for the heads up, you're most likely correct, I will just have to shell out the $45, the local cellphone / iPhone repair guy will charge me to have it fixed. Its just frustrating, because its not "damage" its wear and tear, If there is a "recall" on a Toyota Camry faulty brake line they won't say we can't fix it because my rim is bent. If this guy could fix the battery issue despite this minor bend I think that will only validate my frustration. I am not complaining to you Chris CA, but if I've only used apple lighting chargers, never did anything foolish with my phone, and Apple is admitting its battery is faulty I think, while you are right I should call Apple, other Apple customers should know that they are not alone in this issue. Its not fun taking picture of your family or to be on the phone with someone with 50% battery life only to have the phone just shut off.

It does state, "Note: If your iPhone 5 has any damage such as a cracked screen which impairs the replacement of the battery, that issue will need to be resolved prior to the battery replacement. In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the repair."

The Apple rep couldn't figure out what this line meant. The camera part on "the back" of my phone has cracks, and he told me the battery can't be replaced because the phone has damage. I ask him how something on the back of the phone impairs the replacement of the battery.

We go back and forth for 10 minutes with him just pointing to the last line that I have to pay for the repair, then he goes to talk to his manager and comes back saying they will replace the battery, but they are not liable for the cracks on the back of the phone. 2.5 hours total from walking in to having a fixed battery.
