Splitting a column in Numbers

The past few years I have been able to split a column using numbers spreadsheet. Since I have updated to Maverick and numbers version 3.2.2, I can no longer find the 'split' feature. I need this feature for a business spreadsheet. I have looked in the help section and google search to no avail. I would deeply appreciate any help in finding the split feature or any other method to split the column. Thank you.

I Contacted apple and reverted back to numbers 09 that still has the split option. I also sent feedback to add this feature back into the new version of numbers with Maverick. What I'm having to do is add a column, before or after, and then I highlight all but the first cell in the column, select the split option from the drop down menu, then add the figures to their corresponding cells Underneath one title That is placed in the first cell. Thanks for for your feedback.

Splitting (in my opinion) is a redundant operation which can be accomplished by merging cells. It does require some planning up front and can be accomplished by merging cells then duplicating the row with the merged cells:

No merged cells:

Merged two cells in a row:

select row with merged cell, then use the menu item "Option + <down arrow>" to duplicate that row:

I Understand your first two diagrams, but am confused with the last one. What I am doing is adding a column, before or after, then highlighting all but the first cell, selecting the split option, adding the title in the first cell that spans across the split column, adding the figures into their corresponding cells and setting the formulas. Why would I highlight a row when I am working with a column? I'll search the merge option online to familiarize myself with its features. Thank you for your reply.
