Q: imessage- cannot sign in with Apple ID

Hello,

 

I am having problem when I try to login to imessage on my ipad mini. The error says: "The user name or password for (my account) is incorrect. Try again"

 

I have signed into other apps with my Apple ID and it works fine, only does this in imessage. I cannot sign in via imessage itself, nor under settings > messages.

 

I have created a new Apple ID and it still gives me this same error.
