So we all have a free U2 album in our iTunes library now. I don't like U2 and don't want it. I get an option to 'hide' it in iTunes, but not to delete it. How can I remove it entirely from my library in iCloud? I have just been to iCloud.com, but can't see anything there.

As this sort of nonsense wasn't in the TOS anyone agreed to, who is up for a class action lawsuit?
I want to be compensated for my lost time and bandwidth.
Why did you download it if you did not want it?
If you didn't download it what bandwidth have you lost.
Did you lose more, or less time complaining about receiving the option of a free gift than just ignoring the offer?

If one had auto download turned on for purchases, it was automatically downloaded.
If you had shuffle mode turned on, you may have heard it even if you wished to never endure hearing another U2 audio turd again.

Then don't choose to have Auto Download turned on.
What if I want to auto download the stuff I actually buy on my Mac to my phone?
That was the point of the whole feature!

The Log Out and then Logging back in again seems to have worked on my iPad. Very happy to not see that thing lurking there anymore.

DON'T DOWNLOAD IT, DELETE IT IF you already have
If you don't want the album you can hide it using iTunes on your computer. Go to iTunes Store > Quick Links > Purchased > Music then mouse over the album and click on the X at the top left to hide the purchase/gift.
If the tracks have been automatically downloaded to your library or devices then you can delete them where they still appear.

After talking with some Apple support reps via email and on the phone, it appears that the album cannot be deleted fully from our accounts. The best that can be done is to hide it (turingtest2 has indicated how).
Apple support haven't been able to delete it fully from my account themselves (although understood my feelings at having content pushed to my account without request/permission), so I have asked to be referred up the chain (as presumably someone at Apple will be able to completely delete it). I will post if this happens.
