How do I remove the free U2 album from my iTunes library?

It occurs to me that a number of the solutions are missing the point, hiding is no use if one doesn't want the content in there.

It's something to do with the presumption that just because it's free, they'll all want it... Eventually. No thanks Mr Apple, I don't want it, ain't going to listen to it and feel weirdly violated by having content appear that I wouldn't add myself. I was angry about it when I first heard it on the music news this morning and I'm only here now following a search for how to get rid.

I look forward to a retraction or solution from the powers that be. In the meantime Messrs Bono and Apple, I'm not impressed.

I've also wasted an hour trying to get rid of, or even hide, this stupid U2 album. (PS, Apple, it's *awful* music.)

Next time just announce a free download. It's called "PRIVACY" and you should at least maintain the illusion.

OK, "show only downloads" got rid of most if it.

But that one song that downloaded when I was trying to find the non-existent delete button? I guess that's permanent now.

I think it's called "California (There Is No End To U2)".

I do have Match, and it makes no difference to the list if you delete a Matched copy of a song, Matched copies do not originate in the iTunes Library.

Apple can afford to give away an album that will likely sell quite well internationally and you see that as a sign it isn't doing well? Clueless.

If you do not want it, delete. It isn't rocket science.

That's because you downloaded them, delete them if you do not want them.

Don't download them again (playing them downloads)

That is different from my experience, if I start to play a track it downloads regardless of whether I listen to the whole track or not. I have never had a partially downloaded track (except one that is still downloading) so I'll take your word on that. Thanks.

Why did you download it if you did not want it?

If you didn't download it what bandwidth have you lost.

Did you lose more, or less time complaining about receiving the option of a free gift than just ignoring the offer?

If one had auto download turned on for purchases, it was automatically downloaded.

If you had shuffle mode turned on, you may have heard it even if you wished to never endure hearing another U2 audio turd again.

Why are you advising such a radical method of dealing with this, I advise spending a little time finding out how the Music app works.

And It was not necessary to post nonsense twice, once would have been more than enough.

I had the same problem and the only way was to remove ALL music and then resync the music I wanted to keep. I had just 1 song that wouldn't delete and just played when you tried to swipe left!

Go to Settings > General > Usage > Then find the Music App under Storage and click it. At top hit Edit and Delete to the left of All Music

This will remove it from your phone and ALL OTHER SYNCED MUSIC, leaving you with no music and having to resync your music you want
