How do I remove the free U2 album from my iTunes library?

You missed one critical distinction in your first step. They need to click on Purchased under the Quick Links in the iTunes Store. Many people get the Purchased option listed under the "Store" section in the left-hand sidebar confused with the Purchased option under the Quick Links section in the right-hand sidebar.

It is confusing, and understandably so. So, it is extremely important that when you are providing instructions concerning Purchased, that you are very specific as to which "Purchased" you are referring to....

The Log Out and then Logging back in again seems to have worked on my iPad. Very happy to not see that thing lurking there anymore.

Oh for gosh sakes. Just open your list of songs and delete them. Slide your finger right to left, tap the delete box.

If you "hide" the album in iTunes it won't come back unless you unhide.

BTW, you are the iTunes expert, but I have never heard of anyone having an iTunes purchase successfully expunged from their records. Like you said, they can be hidden but never, ever removed permanently AFAIK.

Could be the rather unusual nature of this one would provide reason for an exception. Although personally I would recommend the OP giving it a listen. Pretty good album, actually.

On any iOS device go to Settings > Music and turn off Show All Music. This should turn off cloud items. You may sometimes need to reset the device.

Swipe to delete the tracks if they were automatically downloaded to the phone.

I had just one stuck too! I got on Apple chat and the only way is to remove all your music and resync the music you want to keep.

Go to Settings > General > Usage > Then find the Music App under Storage and click it. At top hit Edit and Delete to the left of All Music

This will remove it from your phone and ALL OTHER SYNCED MUSIC

Totally worth it for me to resync just the music I want on my phone!

Again, reset your device as I suggested in the last post I sent to you.... Read the entire post. It is showing you how it should be working, and suggests a reset of your device if it is not working that way for you....

Another clue that your device probably needs to be reset is your ability to get the "Delete" option on items that are still in the Cloud. This is not normal either. So, both things point to a need to try a reset.

They did not get "into your device". They put the album in iTunes in the Cloud and, based on the settings that you set up (i.e., Automatic Downloads), it may have downloaded to your device. Basically, iTunes in the Cloud simply points to media in the iTunes Store, so that if you have deleted it from your Library (which lives on your computer), and want to re-download it, the record of your purchase has a link to where that item is in the iTunes Store, and it allows the re-download. That is why, if an Album, Book, Movie, etc. is deleted from the iTunes Store, then you cannot re-download it.

Where are you attempting to delete the songs from? Are you in the iTunes App or the Music App? Did you turn off "Music" under the Show All section in Settings>iTunes & App Store?

Hi there, I was able to successfully follow the instructions on how to hide this album from my icloud storage, but it still appears in my music library on my iphone. Any suggestions about how I should proceed? It's showing up in my music and I want it GONE.

I've gone through all steps in this thread, but still can't get some songs off my phone. I haven't downloaded the songs, but after I turned off Show All Music and reset my device, the 'download from iCloud' icon next to the songs was gone. However, in the Album on my phone it says it only has 7 songs, while the full album is 11 songs. If I try to swipe left to delete the tracks, it just plays them, which only adds to my frustration. All in all this very confusing... Any advice?

I wish I could find the album? -- Will try again with the new info from this post.

ON A RELATED TOPIC (if appropriate). I get annoyed at getting IOS App updates I never asked for, and/or getting app updates for apps I deleted years ago and don't want.
