Upgraded to iTunes 11.4 and now it won't sync my iPhone 5s-sync button is greyed out.

I upgraded to iTunes 11.4 today, and now I'm not able to sync my iPhone 5s. The sync button is greyed out. I tried reinstalling, reauthorizing, signing in again in iTunes and my iPhone. I also restored my phone twice...not sure what else to do. I'm running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) on an iMac Intel Core Duo. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi All,

I tried and was successful following CWA2's instructions to downgraded my iTunes 1o 11.3.1. All has been working fine and I pretty much left this thread but I now am wondering if a fix from Apple has been put out there in the last 2 months. So My question is...is there anyone out there that is running a 32-bit iMac Intel Core Duo with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and has upgraded their iTunes to 11.4.xx and has upgraded their iPhone 5 to iOS 8.xx with any success? Is it Safe to do so.

Thanks!

Greg,

Just to be clear. I have found the solution to the problem we were all having by following CWA2's instructions and all was working and syncing with the USB Cable to my iMac. My question is...Is it OK to upgrade to the new iTunes 11.4.xx and upgrade my ip5 to the newest iOS8.xx while still using my 32-bit Mac running Snow Leopard?

Thanks!

My answer was in the post you referenced.

If you install the "iTunes 11.4++" version on your 32-bit Mac, everything should work - including syncing to your iPhone 5 on iOS 8.x.x - except for USB Tethering.

I am on Mac OS X 10.6.8/iTunes 11.4++/iOS 8.1 (iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 Plus) and I have no problems syncing.

(I don't generally have a need for USB Tethering so I consider it a non-issue for me.)

So if I am understanding you, you sync and back up your iOS devices via WiFi where as I have only and always used the USB cable.

I never said anything about Wi-Fi. I always sync using a USB cable as well, never over Wi-Fi. (I don't trust it.)

Please look up "USB Tethering". "USB Tethering" != "Sync over USB cable". Two completely different things. Apple calls USB Tethering "Personal Hotspot" nowadays.

This problem started last year when ios 8 was released. I think apple is trying to force users to buy music on iTunes store and that's why it's impossible to sync other music and also that's the reason why they haven't solved this serious problem. That's really disappoints me and i'm angry with apple because i have like 10 gb of music in mp3 and i can't sync music from iTunes to my iPhone.

PLEASE help!!! When i click on the link you referenced iTunes 11.4 for OS X 10.6 when I click download, it goes to an empty page. I am in New Zealand. Is it US only or something!?! I am going crazy with this. I haven't been able to sync any of my devices for 5 months and my son with special needs desperately needs me to sync stuff off our computer for him and his communication app. I was sooooo excited to see an answer, but I can't seem to find the "non buggy" 11.4 update. On the apple downloads page it is only the Sept 9th one available. :-( Please help someone!!!!!! Thank you so much everyone who has helped so far. thrilled to have found this thread....

I got excited tooooo fast. I have installed the Sept 24 11.4 update and I've just plugged in my iPad and it STILL SAYS IT IS OVER CAPACITY AND HAS TONS OF "OTHER" STUFF (which it isn't and doesn't have!). Ok, it looks like reverting back to 11.3.1 is my next move. Thank goodness for these forums. I just hope I don't stuff anything up when I do the uninstall/reinstall of it.......

Hi cwa2, Having deleted all the components you listed for the iTunes 11.3.1 version, iTunes does recognize my iphone4. However, when I shut down/restart my iMac (10.6.8 Snow Leopard) the components are back in place and my iphone4 will not appear again. Can't seem to find this problem in the thread. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.

Upgraded to iTunes 11.4 and now it won't sync my iPhone 5s-sync button is greyed out.
