itunes 11.4 crashes when syncing apps to ipad / iphone

hey everyone, maybe the knowledge of the many may help, as I am rather at a loss right now!

after installing itunes 11.4, my trouble started! running 64 bit version on windows 8.1 - and latest iOS on both devices

all windows updates installed, all drivers for whatever is running on this machien are also up to date

connecting either ipad or iphone to computer, when itunes starts to sync, it gets to the point of "syncing apps to iPAD", it tries to add the first app - and crashes for good!

and yep, I went thru all the suggested thingies recommended on here:

iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717

windows pops up "itunes has stopped working" ... so I headed over to the Windows Event viewer, and for the moment, itunes crashes, I find these two entries in the log file - tried a search on here, google as well, to no avail:

Hi barbino

You're not the only one having this problem, I'm running the 32bit version of 11.4 on windows 7 and I'm having a very similar problem as you.

It crashes when I sync apps to my iPAD and iPod Touch, but it works ok when synced my iPhone 4S?

My Windows Event looks the sames as yours

I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it, no joy. But I have got a sort of work around for the problem. I updated all my iPhone apps on the device before I connected it to iTunes. I tried it with my iPad and iPod Touch both had all their apps updated on the device before syncing to iTunes and no syncing of apps so no crash. It's not a fix, but at least iTunes doesn't crash now. Let hope version 12.0 fixes the problem.

Hope this helps.

Any more luck on this?

Has anyone actually tried installing their Apps from the NAS and downloading it on their C Drive?

I was able to install music and contacts etc it's only when the Apps start to sync is when mine crashes

If it works I'll do this but wondered if anyone had already as it's a lengthy process

The work around that I have found at the moment is just sink it the way you normally do then just go into purchased on your iphone and download them manually

I know it's a pain but **** Im not waiting around any longer for Apple to release an update

Im pretty sure this has got to do with how iTunes is communicating with the NAS ??

I too had all these problems with no solution in sight. But it's working now. Here's how:

1. Close iTunes

2. Download a dedicated uninstall program like Revo Uninstaller Pro, it's free to use on trial and hopefully you'll only need it once

3. I used Revo to uninstall iTunes 11.4 (and get rid of the Apple Application Support, Software Update, Mobile Device & Bonjour etc)

4. Each time *be sure* to use the scan feature in Revo during the uninstall process as this will look for the lingering registry files. Delete these files as prompted.

5. Download and install iTunes 11.4

This has worked for me at least after trying everything else on Windows 7 64bit, no promises it'll work for others but seeing the problems others have had I thought it's worth sharing.

just a quick heads up, still no solution in sight, still in touch with Apple Tech Support, the problem got moved from Ireland to Cupertino, they asked me to also create dumps with ProcDump, done that, handed them over, now waiting for Apple getting back in touch with me

true, there are workarounds, like making sure that all the apps on the iDevice are updated manually before you start syncing with iTunes, or have new apps automatically installed on device when they are downloaded thru iTunes on computer ... not sure how efficient those recommendations about moving your apps from NAS to drive within computer are, my collection is way too vast that I could be bothered to do that, after all, it all worked perfectly fine with iTunes 11.3 - no matter if the device was running iOS 7 or 8, so, my guess is: definitely a major bug with iTunes 11.4 ... hope that gets updated soon and all those woes shall become a thing of the past, after all, with Apple, one would suppose: it just works!

Each person in our office is having the exact same issue. I cannot believe that Apple has not gotten this issue resolved after over 3 weeks of numerous people complaining. Our office utilizes iPhones and iPads for a large portion of our work outside of the office. We have been debating on purchasing the new iPhone 6, but wanted to see how things were going to work first. We have tried every option listed besides deleting everything and downloading the older version of iTunes, which I prefer not to do from a non-Apple site. Guess we will be looking at other options with other operating systems. Maybe all of their employees are still too hyped up from the "release party" to address the end side of having Apple products.

I had this problem and I deleted the two apps that it was crashing on. I also deleted them from my iPhone 6. I know that downgrading works if you dont have an iPhone 6 but I am using an 18 TB Netgear ReadyNas storage device and I had this problem after upgrading to 11.4 just like everyone else on this thread. But as I stated after deleting the app that was crashing (yes one at a time) from both the itunes software and the iphone 6 the phone stated to sync just fine. I have since added apps to my phone and received updates on some on the computer and syncing is working fine.

Has everyone just simply tried deleting the app that crashes and then if it still crashes deleting the next app and so on. Some of you say that it is All of your Apps is that really the case? In my case I only had to delete 2 of them and then everything worked fine? I am curious to learn if there are really users out there that have this problem with all of there apps. After you delete all of your apps it still does not sync ?

Just curious.
