Repeated "AirTrafficHost" errors in console after 11.4 update; CPU spikes

After updating to iTunes 11.4 a couple days ago I noticed my CPU was getting pegged hard. I looked at Activity Monitor and saw CrashReporter processes spawning and respawning. When I looked at Console.app I found hundreds of crash logs for "/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AirTrafficHost.framework/ath."

Restoring the previous version of iTunes and /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks in its entirety fixed things. Today I tried reinstalling 11.4 since I plan on installing iOS 8 on my devices next week and I will need iTunes compatibility. The same thing occurred, however I was able to remedy it by restoring the following directories from Time Machine Backups:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DeviceLink.framework

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AirTrafficHost.framework

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework

I just synced my iPad and iPhone successfully and no particularly strange errors are appearing in the console logs. I'm running 10.6.8 on a 32-bit Mac (first generation black MacBook) and I suspect this is somehow related.

MacBook (13-inch), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
