Logic Pro X: Midi takes do not play

When I record a few midi takes with looping on and set to "create tracks and mute when cycling", I can only play back the first take. Subsequent takes are greyed out, silent, and nothing I do seems to make any difference. You can see in the screen cap, the top track (green) plays, but even if I click on the other tracks or the clips themselves below, I can't get them to play. Can anyone help please? Thanks - TJ

Thanks CCT: New to Logic I'd forgotten that there are two ways to mute (other than the mute button). There reason I chose the mute option is so I can make a bunch of attempts to record a section and not hear each loop while I record (I guess that's the best way?). I usually build up midi note by note on the piano roll, so this is something new for me. I thought mute would be a temporary thing that Logic did only while recording. Anyway, thanks! this solved my problem.
