what does sim status "unknown" mean?

I checked my iphones info online and it says simlock : unkown ? what does that mean? i don't understand.

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1.2

Yes, it is a scam. The only place in the world that the lock status of an iPhone is stored is Apple's activation database. And no one has access to that except Apple. There is no way that iphoneimei.info or any other site that claims to know lock status can actually have that information unless they hacked Apple's servers. And that hasn't happened.

I doubt that bro that only apple has it, because their information is pretty accurate like from which country you bought or on what date you bought and rest of things too. anyway how can I know it from apple?

There is no way to check sim status online. Any site that claims to be able to do so is a fraud or a scam to get you to pay them money. The only way is to call Apple and ask.

so you are telling me http://iphoneimei.info is a scam ? because I checked through my imei here. other people have either locked or unlocked so I was wondering why it says "unknown" to me 😐
