Keyboard shortcut problems in iPhone 5S with iOS 8 update

Hey guys, I just updated to iOS 8 on my iPhone 5S and keyboard shortcuts are not working out. All the shortcuts I had saved before disappeared. This happened to me the last time I updated to iOS 7 with an iPhone 4S and I thought that had something to do with my phone being old. Now that it's a new phone they are all gone! Like an hour ago, I entered new shortcuts and now that I'm typing they disappeared too, anyone has the same problem or a possible solution? Thanks! 🙂

Hello Beatrizarcer,

It sounds like you are entering new shortcuts and they are disappearing before you can even use them. It seems like the Settings app is not functioning correctly, so I would start by quitting all the running apps on your phone:

iOS: Force an app to close

Double-click the Home button.

Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.

Swipe the app up to close it.

When you have done that restart the phone and test the issue again:

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

All the best,

Sterling

I lost all my shortcuts on upgrade to iOS8 as well (iPhone 5S) but the shortcuts remained on my MacBook Pro (running Mavericks). I synced the phone and still they did not come up. Here is how I brought them back:

Double-click, and swipe up to shut all running apps off

Restart my phone

Open the shortcuts preference page

Click Edit

Poof, they are back.

I Thought I had lost mine, too! I would put in my shortcut like I always did and nothing would happen. The shortcuts were still in my phone but they wouldn't pop up. What I figured out is I needed to have the predictive 'keyboard' running (I had turned it off because I found it distracting) my shortcuts now appear in the middle panel when I type them. Hope this helps!

Same issue for me since the iOS 8.0 upgrade. Turning off documents & data sync in iCloud settings and turning it back on again worked for a while. So did signing out and back in my iCloud account. I rebooted after each of these steps. The shortcuts reappear and work for a while and then vanish. I like others here have a ton of these. Since these sync via iCloud, I will note that my Mac is not affected and all the shortcuts are still there. Rest assured that iCloud is hiding them somewhere and they are not deleted. Toggling the predictive keyboard did not work for me, neither did syncing with iTunes. I have reported this bug to Apple and I encourage others to do the same (http://www.apple.com/feedback/).
