Where did photostream and Cameraroll go in iOS 8?

I can't seem to find my photostream or Camera roll albums in iPhone 5 and iPad Air running iOS 8, in addition, the All imported album on iPad, which is the accumulated total images imported to the iPad through the camera connection kit, is now gone, as well.

I have enabled iCloud Drive, but I cannot work out how to use it, can anyone help?

The biggest frustration is actually the missing photostream and camera roll

iPhone 5, iOS 7

Looks like they were lumped in under "collections."

Star, you miss the point. you're right that the new Camera Roll doesn't have the limits of Recently Added..

BUt in old Camera Roll you could delete everything and as long as you enabled Photostream, you lost nothing.

if you deleted from Recently Added or now from Camera Roll, you lose it from Photostream.

So despite your caps lock key and whatever you call the new album, Camera Roll handles photos like Recently added except for how many.

APplecare person confirmed this.

The 8.1 Camera Roll is somewhere between "old" Camera Roll and "Recent Activity". It is exactly like the original Camera Roll in that it shows the photos taken by your iOS device - all of them back to the dawn of time; and nothing more. "Recently added" showed only 30 days' worth of photos, plus it delivered a photo stew of your native shots plus Photostream plus (I think) anything else you'd imported to the device within the preceding 30 days.

In this regard the 8.1 Camera Roll is just like the original.

The difference lies in deletion. The original Camera Roll only showed photos taken by the iOS device, and, when you deleted them, only deleted them from the iOS device. Photostream stayed as it was. By contrast if you deleted something from "Recent Activity", it would not only delete the local version but the Photostream version as well. In the 8.1 Camera Roll, deleting a photo deletes the Photostream version as well. In this regard, the 8.1 Camera Roll is exactly like "Recent Activity".

Does anyone know WHERE these things are "physically" stored?

Which photos are actually on the hard disc of my iPhone? (available 2 be

shown when I'm abroad with no connection. available to be deleted when I

need to make space for 4.7 Go updates?) It seems from what you say that the

CR has NOT been replaced 🙂
