Handoff doesn't work

Hi there,

I just updated my iPhone 5 and my iPad mini (retina) to iOS 8.

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi is on. I'm signed in with my Apple ID on both devices. iCloud is enabled, Handoff in the (General) settings is activated as well.

The thing is, handoff doesn't work. When I open "Mail" or "Calender" for example it doesn't show this little icon on the lower right corner. What am I missing here?

(By the way: why the **** is there no full photo stream in iOS 8? Just the last few pictures. That ***** big time...)

Completely frustrated!!! The bluetooth on my MBP supports handoff. Bluetooth sees my iPhone 6+ on my MBP and sends a pairing code. Once I confirm the code on my iPhone and select "Pair" it disconnects and a dialogue box appears that states " Pairing unsuccessful make sure the MBP is turned on and in range" I am less than 10 feet away from it. I have tried the suggestions of signing out of and into iCloud turning of and on Airdrop. nothing seems to work.

Ideas???

Thanks FelipeV!! So you are saying that there is no need to pair the two devices? Both are on the same wifi network and both have bluetooth turned on. I had assumed that the two need to be paired to work. I'm not getting an icon next to safari or mail and there is no icon on the iPhone lock screen. That's how I thought it's supposed to work? is there something I'm missing to continue writing an e-mail on my iPhone or continue reading a webpage on Safari? Thanks again for your help

You need to turn on BlueTooth on the MAC to turn on AirDrop (for everyone) but after doing that I turned off Blue Tooth on my MB Air (OS X 10.10). Turned on AirDrop for everyone on my iPhone and Both my Mac iPhone5 (IOS8) are logged into the same iCloud and WiFi network (at work). Im able to receive and make phone calls on my Mac without problems (without BT being on on the Mac). Still confusing regarding which function needs to be turned on and in what order. About time Apple support provides some easy to follow directions.

Hi. I had same problem between iPhone 5, iPad Air and MBA Early 2014.

Try this out, if worked for me:

- Add your iCloud email address to your own contact card.

- Wait to sync the contacts in all your devices.

- Switch on the Airdrop for only contacts.

- Find yourself in your other devices via Airdrop trying to send a photo (for example). Don't send it, just find yourself.

- When you get it, start using email, callings,... it will work hopefully.

All these steps are needed to be done just for the first time.

This is what works/doesn't work for me...

1. If I open Safari on my MBP, it will show up on my iPhone and iPad.

2. If I open up Pages on my MBP, leaving Safari open, but Pages is the active app, Safari disappears on my iPhone and iPad. However, I don't see Pages on my iPhone and iPad - I have Pages installed on my iPhone and iPad.

3. If I close all apps on my MBP, iPhone and iPad and then open Safari on either my iPhone and iPad, Safari does not show up in that special area on the left side of my MBP dock.

I was also expecting to see Safari (opened in my iPad) show up on my iPhone and vice versa, but haven't seen that happen so far.

Not sure handoff is ready for primetime.
