Album art gone after ios 8 update!

Well restore did not work. Now I am having trouble playing movies on my iPad mini. They play fine in iTunes, but on my iPad its saying, missing decode??

correction, it says, the media data could not be decoded on this device

Similar problem here with my iPhone 4s. Albums that I purchased through the iTunes store show album artwork, but all the rips of my CDs and music purchased through other sources doesn't show artwork.

Odd that the artwork was there initially then disappeared into thin air. Synching and restarting my iPhone hasn't changed anything.

IiPhone 4S and iPad Air are not showing any album art!

My iPhone 5s is having the same issue after updating. I have a lot missing and don't want to go through the tedious process and delete everything just to redownload it. Apple needs to fix this annoying bug please!

I do have the same problem in my iPod 5th generation... Very frustrating! I installed the Amazon Music App, and it doesn't have the problem. So, it's a bug! I hope that Apple will fix it soon!

It is strange why it only occurs with some TV series' artwork.

Hi. Ive had this problem too, losing all artwork for my ripped tv shows. I tried something that I hoped wouldn't work, but unfortunately it did - as a result, I'm not sure that it is a bug at all, but may be Apple forcing people down a certain path.

What I did was remove the posters I've used for tv shows in the past (and which have always worked fine), and replaced them with square posters (ie just like the ones that you see with tv shows purchased on iTunes). The only thing I can't figure out is artwork for each episode (for episode artwork it wants a widescreen image, but I can't get anything to work.)

If anyone can figure out the episode image problem, please let me know. Better still, Apple, please make ripped tv shows in ios8 work with standard artwork as before 🙂

Apparently it has to do with the aspect ratio op the pictures indeed, as kevsfx suggest. They do not necessarily have to be square though. A 3x4 ratio works fine for me. Still it's an annoying issue.

Same here, had a go at removing audio and video media, did a re-install (iPhone 4s) and my TV shows are missing artwork (music was okay before).

After updating to iOS 8 two days ago, I also found this issue to be apparent on my iPad 4 (Or iPad with Retina Display) whereas before, the artwork would be visible when I was still running iOS 7, of course, I also ran into the problem while on iOS 7 but I was able to fix it by changing the artwork to the default artwork that was on my DVDs. This doesn't do anything to help me anymore, one solution I've read on here is to change the dimensions of the pictures themselves, which I did through Photoshop, down to 300x400 aspect ratio, it did nothing to fix anything. I think this is just a bug with iOS 8.

Same here for my music on my 5s. I purchased 90% of my music on iTunes and I don't understand why it's doing this after the update.This is very annoying and wish they would hurry up and fix it.

I'm having the same issue. Ipad mini Retina. Some TV shows retained their artwork, others didn't. I'm waiting a couple months to update ios next time. It always causes little problems like this. Get it fixed Apple!
