iOS 8 3G to 2G toggle missing

Hi,

I just upgraded my iPhone 5s 16GB to iOS 8. Everything seems ok but for one problem.

There used to be a "Enable 3G" toggle in the cellular data menu. It is no longer present and has been replaced by "Enable LTE".

The issue is that some carriers do not let customers use 3G unless they've opted for a specific plan. And even if they do, it's limited. So after a particular amount of fixed data, charges pile up quickly.

Here in India, carriers usually don't roll out individual patches/ upgrades. Is there any plan to roll out a Enable 3G switch? Or will the carriers release a specific update for it?

Thanks,

I reside in Kolkata, India. I have two iPhones. Both use same carrier(Airtel). However one is 2G enabled and the other is 3G enabled. After the iOS 8.1 update, the iPhone having the 2G SIM is displaying all the toggles i.e. 2G/3G/LTE. But the other iPhone is not showing the new settings. It still shows 3G/LTE. I alter the SIMs. Guess what !! The phone with the 2G SIM displayed all the three toggles.

So it is not a problem with the carriers. The problem lies with iOS. I can't understand WHY you people at Apple will decide which network I'm going to use. It is completely monopoly. Dear Apple, I request you to give me my right back ASAP.

I have been facing this issue from very long time. Apple rectified this issue on iOS 8.1 update. All other networks in India except Airtel you can find the toggle switch. That is issue of carrier. Airtel India doesn't support 2G/3G toggle switch on iPhone 5S. Airtel should release carrier settings update to get back the Toggle switch. So its work of Airtel.

Complaining about 2G/3G toggle switch on iPhones with iOS 8.1

It's not an iOS bug, guys. It's definitely because of the carrier's settings. I'm using the iPhone 5s on Airtel over an year now and lost the 2G toggle the day updated my carrier setting. My phone's running iOS 8.1 now and when I'm using any other carrier apart from Airtel, like Idea or BSNL, I'm getting the latest toggle switch which allows you to switch between 2G, 3G and LTE. Check the attached screenshots for proof. So me and my friends tweeted to @airtel_presence using the hashtag #GetBack2gToggleSwitch and they've responded that they'll get back to me tomorrow. I'll let you guys know what they've said and in the meanwhile you too tweet the same, letting them know that this issue is ******* off many users.User uploaded fileUser uploaded file
