iOS 8 3G to 2G toggle missing

Hi,

I just upgraded my iPhone 5s 16GB to iOS 8. Everything seems ok but for one problem.

There used to be a "Enable 3G" toggle in the cellular data menu. It is no longer present and has been replaced by "Enable LTE".

The issue is that some carriers do not let customers use 3G unless they've opted for a specific plan. And even if they do, it's limited. So after a particular amount of fixed data, charges pile up quickly.

Here in India, carriers usually don't roll out individual patches/ upgrades. Is there any plan to roll out a Enable 3G switch? Or will the carriers release a specific update for it?

Thanks,

Ok here is the solution. I Have tried and tested. 100% working. There is no issues with the ios. It is just the carrier update which is causing the problem. According to Airtel, there will be only 3G and 4G from 2015 onwards in India. So they have jump in front of time and updated their carrier setting with the new one. And it affected the battery life very badly. What i have done is port my number to Vodafone. And everything become normal. 2G/3G toggle is back, battery even lasts for atleast 2 days. This is the ultimate solution for this. 🙂

It is not the iphone issue. It is the Carrier Issue.
It is issue of Airtel only. You can not toggle to 2G.

I had changed my 4 phone numbers from airtel to idea.
Idea and Vodafone supports 2G toggle option. You can Choose 2G or 3G at any time.
The iphone battery last longer with 2G signals as it never drops.
Go with any another operator than Airtel,The issue will be resolved.

Airtel is doing so to encourage the 4G usage so they have disabled the 2G option.
