Multitasking Gestures occasionally fails (ios 8)

i just upgraded to iOS 8, now gestures fails occasionally when in apps. I try to swipe up with four fingers, and pinch wih four fingers, but none of them works. I had to use the button to exit. Did anyone else experience this?

I just wanted to let everyone know that I posted this as a bug to the Apple developer portal since it's still happening in 8.1, although it does seem to happen less often to me personally.

The good news for me is that the wi-if bug that made connecting to my home network intermittent at best and impossible at times hasn't happened in 24 hours, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'll post any updates to the bug report about this issue that come my way. Good luck folks.

Im having the same problem! since installing ios8 the pinch gesture fails a lot of times its getting really really annoying. Hoped that ios 8.1 would fix that, even though it didn't say anything at the information about the ios 8.1.

WTHell Apple?? really? if its going to be this buggy to everyone that dont have the new thing from you guys ex: (new ipad new iphone) at least let us get to the last working 100% fine installment ex 7.1.2.

Because now I still have the gesture problem and got a new one to mess with my head. the apps freeze completly cant do anything with them, they just open and close! way around it is too restart the freaking ipad.

Btw the gesture has a tendency to fail more when im in messages.

Got my brand new iPad Air 2 running 8.1 and the multitasking gestures randomly stop working on it (just like they did on my iPad 3). Really annoying. I just use the turn off/turn on approach to get it running again.

I'm not positive, but it always seems to start failing when I'm running Safari or Mail. I don't think this has ever started in a 3rd party app (but I haven't done extensive testing).

Hi,

Its not mail (or at least not ONLY mail). I haven't used Mail since upgrade to IOS8, as I had to delete my mail accounts when the iPad gobbled > 2GB of memory and refused to let me have it back. Deleted mail accounts, and eventually had to restart the iPad from scratch and restore from iTunes.

So - as it has happened to me since then - its not (limited to) mail.

Touch-wood it hasn't happened so much since 8.1 - yet, but then again I haven't used the iPad a whole lot since then ;-)).

So by now I guess this isn't just a small problem because I met people with the same problem. Even though they are not here complainig.

Although a really annoying problem it can be surpressed with just a little touch on the notification bar/screen whatever. But it's not supposed to do that.

By my "testing" so far, it happens only in apple apps like messages, email, settings etc.

After it happens the third party apps do it to, but so far they are never the failure origin.

Even if you don't do anything about it, please give me and the others the chance to return my ipad to the less "cool" but more stable version 7.1.2.

Please

Yesterday i chatted with an apple representative, his "solution" was to restore the ipad and try if the error re occurs without restoring data.... Sorry but i will not go through that for such a childish bug..

When this issue first came up and I read the forums, I did a restore on my iPad Air (original) and it did not help the issue so I restored from my backup. I also reported this to Apple through the developer bug reporting system last week and my bug report was marked as a duplicate. So they definitely know about it.

On a side note, unrelated to the post directly above, it's disheartening to me how many people here ask questions that were clearly answered in previous posts.
