A credit card company sent me an email about setting up Apple Pay under iOS 8.1, so it must be soon.

8.1. just installed - seems to have resolved the issue - though it was never mentioned in any release not. Regardless, I think Apple has understood and removed the problem!

Yes. It appears so. Never have been 3 or 4 hours without the problem until now, with the update.

Udated and placed my phone back in the Lifeproof case and it seems to be working in that case again.

Same for me. 8.1 seems to have solved the issue.

Same for me, At&t iphone 5 16GB black. It started happening occasionally after the ios 8 update. Then with 8.0.2 it increased to almost every time I pressed the home button and it was annoying. Now I've had iOS 8.1 for a whole day and it hasn't happened. It looks like Apple found the bug and fixed it. I knew it had to be a software issue because my button worked fine, for example when awakening the phone or to trigger Siri. By the way, it only happened on the iphone, I also updated my ipad air and never had this issue there.

Same chain of events for me, increased with 8.0.2, a day ok with 8.1 but now sadly the problem has returned. Not so frequent with 8.1 but certainly still an issue 😟

I think you're the first I've seen who's still having the problem with 8.1, working just fine for me (and others above). Have you tried re-installing iOS?

I've got an iPhone 5.
I had the problem since i updated ro ios 8, but the ios 8.1 update didnt solve the problem.
I still cant use the homebutton, it doesnt react or do anything.

You are describing a totally different problem than the issues that this thread has been discussing. If the Home button on your iPhone 5 does not work at all, then you need to take it to the Apple Store to have it replaced.

Problem gone now and iPhone working fine since ios 8.1 update. Only had the problem since the first ios 8 update.

This has reminded me only to update a good while after the new update comes out if at all.

no , not the only one ! after 3-4 days , problem ( single tap registering as a double ) recurred this morning though just once. The problem may not have been completely eliminated. Anyone with iPhone 6 with same issue ?
