Ipad mini with retina wifi extremely slow/dead after ios 8 update

Just updated my devices to iOS 8. Im having no issues with the Iphone 5s wifi works perfectly fine. But with the Ipad Mini w/ Retina I can't get any wifi. Its connected, I've reset the wifi & router. But my mini keeps saying there isnt any internet connection. Anyone else have this issue?

Marvin,

Please check your router settings. If your 5Ghz band has the option of "Automatic" for the channel, that should fix it.

I'm not sure why your 2.4Ghz band only gives you 9mbps, when your 5Ghz band gives you over 100. Lots of contention? Maybe your router doesn't broadcast that band as powerfully?

Just did a speed test on my iPad Air. On the 2.4 band, I'm getting 60 Mbps down and 13 up. The constraint is my internet connection, I'm paying for 50-down 10up.

Still...10Mbps is a whole lot faster than a paperweight!

This actually worked on my ipad mini. Had the same issues as everyone having sluggish to no connection. Logged in to my router and changed 2.4Ghz channel to automatic and if your 5Ghz does not have the automatic option for a channel, then change it to highest channel and hit apply then log out. Had no issues since then, been using 5Ghz with no hiccups. Speed test shows constant upper 100 Mbps download.

That's my iPad Air been working as normal for just over eight hours now. Changing back to IOS 7.1 and resetting network settings all seem a bit drastic when there is a simple temporary fix. If it's WiFi that's causing you a problem and if you have a dual concurrent router then it's as easy as picking the 2.4 GHz under choose a network on your iPad. Alternatively if you don't have a dual concurrent device just set your router to TX in 2.4 GHz radio from the router/hub settings menu, and then choose it as your network option on your iPad. Nobody seems to know why, but it's the 5GHz band that is the problem since the IOS 8 update.

I Also had problems with sluggish safari, and often came up with error message saying unable to load as not connected to Internet, even though wifi looked like was connected. Was ok on iOS 7, so deleted wireless settings and reset, then entered the settings again, and has been fine all day. Haven't had to change any router settings so hopefully it's just something gine corrupt during the update process.

WIll post back if the problem comes back.
