Apple Maps App not working on IOS 8

Same problem here, but not just the Maps app. it also affects the Find My iPhone app where the devices tracked are clearly shown but the map background is missing. Weirdest thing yet is that this behavior is only on my iPhone 5S. Maps and Find My iPhone under iOS 8 work just fine on my iPad Air.

No issue here with a 5S on iOS8...

Try resetting the device:

Hold the home button + the lock button for about 6-8 seconds until the Apple logo appears. You will not lose any data or current settings.

Thanks for the suggestion. It did work but only after the second time resetting the device.

Tried iPad reset twice. Still no map data in maps or any app dependent on maps. Works on an iPhone 4s also on ios8.

The hard reset described above (home + lock button) fixed it on my iphone 5s.

I went into Settings General and Reset....this completes the update and all works fine. 🙂

I’m also facing the same issue. The background appears in black and white. Which reset did you do? I tried the soft reset as well as location and privacy settings

It's an iPhone 5s, I went into Settings, General and Reset at the bottom. I couldn't get the holding keys to do anything.😕

I Had three devices which I updated over the air. The ipad 2 was ok so was the iPhone 5 which I use without cellular, the 5S was very problematic. The maps were screwie. at times the destination and my position floated on the map. I had a back up before the update so I plugged into latest iTunes and restored the update then restored the backup. It seemed to clear up the map issue until today when it floated again.

So I would suggest that you try to restore the update while pluged into iTunes latest version, then restore your pre ios 8 back up from iTunes.

The next step is to do a clean install and reinstall everything from scratch ouch!

I will try the reset in the settings app and report back.

Settings/General/Reset/Reset Settings worked for me, but that also requires afterwards redoing your wallpaper and various other settings, which is what I was trying to avoid.

Update. I did a complete hard reset and now the maps are fine. There seems to be no other way unfortunately!

Pff.. mine still doesn't work.. tried hard reset, I've even restored the phone which made the Maps app work a bit, like one day, until it stopped working again. I've tried most of the stuff that I found on the forums, closing the apps and all the other standard things don't work at all.

I don't really know what to do to it anymore. If after Restore and/or Hard Reset it still doesn't work...

The issue is on iOS 8.0.2 (happened on iOS 8 as well) on an iPhone 5.

Just upgraded my iPad 4 to 8.1. And now maps don't work. I've been using GoogleMaps which is superior but I have an app on the iPad that needs Apple Maps so I would live to get them going. I've tried the General/Reset/Reset all settings and still no luck. I can't believe everyone puts up with this. I am SO glad I use android on a daily basis and would never spend my own money on apple hardware.

A couple of weeks after I posted above, it just started working for no reason on my iPad4. Lame software. Lame products.
