Anyone know how to fix Bluetooth headset not working properly after iOS 8 update?

I have an iPhone 5S and I use a Plantronics PLT M20 model bluetooth headset. I am no longer able to answer calls by pressing the button on the headset, since updating to iOS 8. I also also cannot end calls by pressing the button on the headset. This only happened after iOS 8. The Apple Care rep stated that "this is most likely a problem with the bluetooth manufacturer and they need to update their firmware, so now it's just a waiting game until they do that". Is that correct? Anyone encountering this?

Hi - I'm a student with disabilities and rely heavily on accessibility features that make my life easier. For example, I use a Bluetooth headset to trying answer phone calls and use Siri… I especially use the "Raise to speak" option for accessing Siri. Since updating my iPhone five us and my iPad air, I've been scrambling to access the "raise to speak" option for Siri without success. When I called AppleCare, the representative stated I should have that option to enable in my settings. When I explained to her that the option is not showing, she wanted me to reset my phone to factory settings. When I told her I googled the issue and found that it may have been removed in iOS 8… She put me on hold, Came back and told me I was right.

What's worse is that that my Bluetooth headset is no longer working with my iPhone 5S. She stated that it may being I needed adjustment from the manufacturer of the headset– Plantronics. All I know is that the apple care representatives seem confused and I am extremely disappointed in this really impacts my use of Siri and my phone.

When I asked her to submit feedback to her supervisor or the powers that be… I was simply asked to submit feedback to the Apple.com website. While I understand Apple might read that feedback, I also recognize that they don't reply and I don't feel that is great support to someone like me who has a disability and needs a solution. The"Hey Siri" option is not working for me.

Does anyone have any workarounds for the "Raise to speak" problem or the Bluetooth problem? Specifically, the Bluetooth issue is when I try to hit the button on my Bluetooth headset to answer a call or end the call. It's a Plantronics PLT M20 model.

Jawbone support requests that you try the same headset on a different iPhone running 8.0.2. If it works on that phone, that means you simply need to do a hard reset on your original phone. It worked for me!

So nearly evertime there is an OS update to get things working correctly you have to hard reset? That is not acceptable.

I got this from norm123, and it worked for me.

But I am now still a bit anxious to enable/connect with my iPhone to iCloud again...will have to do some testing on this as soon as I can make some time for it.

This worked for me, I was not using Find My iPhone so I only needed to sign out of iCloud from the phone and reboot the phone, checked the Bluetooth device and then again after logging into iCloud from the phone. Button works now.

I Had the same issue with a plantronics voyager legend. Deleting old devices from iCloud.com worked for me as well.

It worked for me as well.

I have turned on my iCloud functionality and I did not have the problem re-occur. I don't understand the root cause and why this worked - just that it works OK so far.

Yea!!! iOS 8.1 update fixed all my Bluetooth issues and connecting to my vehicle audio system.

I had the same issue - Iphone 6 Plus and M20 Plantronics no pairing. I got mine to work! Here is How:

I followed the "SUBSEQUENT PAIRING" the second one down the page and it worked. I had to hold my "call button" down and it discovered my M20. Hope this helps!

If you need to pair the headset to your phone again - or to another device - you can do so by performing the following:

Turn on your device’s Bluetooth feature.
Turn the headset on.
Press and hold the call control button for about 5-6 seconds until the light on the headset starts flashing an alternating red-blue. Release the button and set the headset aside.
On your cell phone, go to the Bluetooth menu and search for (or add) a device. The cell phone should find the headset. The M20 appears as "PLT_M20" in your list of devices, and the M50 appears as "PLT_M50."
If prompted for a passkey, enter 0000 (four zeros). Note: Do not be alarmed if your phone does not prompt you for a passkey, because many phones do not.

Great tip and it also worked for Plantronics M155 and M165. Very cool. Thanks Anne166.

As soon as the device blinks colors, voice came over saying that it was pairing and then great.

Will give it a good test tomorrow.

I have an iPhone 6, 8.1 and use a Blue Parrott B250-XT+.When on an active call and another call comes in, I use the button on the phone screen to hang up on current call and accept the incoming call and it will put the new call on the in phone speaker and mic. I have to hit the audio button on the screen and choose the bluetooth. is there some setting to fix this or is it in the works?

As far as I am concerned the IOS 9 update is the worst update ever. I have had so many problems it is unbelievable. In particular my Plantronic Legend does not connect with Siri. All my settings were changed and I find this very annoying.

Apple pleas get this stuff fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the same problem. I have Plantronics headset and it used to work fine with iPhone 4S. Now I have purchased iPhone 6 and I have pair it every time whenever I switch off either headset or bluetooth connection on iPhone. Please provide me a permanent solution.
