Hi everyone,

Problem solved ))) I had my Siri go down where it (Siri) would not listen to me kept cutting me off every time I spoke and it did this for about three days, I had no idea what was causing this and it was so frustrating. Thought it might of been my speakers faulty and also thought it may have been a dodgy phone only a month old brand-new 7 Plus ....I went to Apple Syore in Sydney they told me to do the same thing reinstall Siri by turning on and off and change network settings etc .. still nothing changed Siri still didn't work (( well finally found the problem .....I went into languages and change to say French or German male or female changed ...and .......presto .....Siri worked !!!! but in German and French lol ... so I went back and changed my language to English not Australian and guess what presto it worked again !!! my Siri is working now perfectly but this time in English male and not an Australian male as I originally had ....so obviously the server for the Aussie voice went down (( or he was having a cigarette break lol ....and no one told Apple (( soooooo ...if you're having problems change your language to English Canadian Australian or US ..... problem solved )))cheers Andrew

I meant to add that - talk to Apple Care via the Chat app on Support section the Apple website.
You can post a link to his thread to help explain the situation to them.
They'll send you out a self addressed return package with UPS - you just wipe your phone, put it into the box they send you and call UPS to pick it up.
They'll have it a couple of days before sending you back a new phone!
Or at least - that's how it worked for me!
Good luck!

It seems like we're dealing with a symptom that may have different causes. Certain iPhone 6 / 6 Plus users are finding a solution in having their iPhones replaced -- but presumably Siri **never* worked properly for them. Then there are iPhone 5 / 5S users for whom Siri worked fine under iOS 7, but after upgrading to iOS 8, they experienced the symptoms detailed here. It appears unlikely that their their iPhones have a hardware fault.

For what it's worth:

I had this problem and Apple guided me through simply resetting my iPhone completely as if it were brand new. That is, I took it back to factory settings and rebuilt manually from there - I never went back to a backup. Some corruption must have been carried through all of my backups that caused the issue. In any case, it's working fine now.

Everybody, there is a really simple 15 second fix to this problem. You don't need to go to the Apple store, or return to facotyr settings, etc. All you need to do is reboot your phone. Here's what you do. Turn it OFF by pressing down the botton on the top of your phone. Allow the phone to completely power down. Then press the Power button again on the TOP of your phone and your HOME button on the front of your phone on the bottom center (the main button) and at the SAME TIME AND HOLD THEM TOGETHER. First you will see the Apple logo appear, keep holding the 2 buttons, then the apple logo will disappear, keep holding the 2 buttons, and then the apple logo will reappear a second time, RELEASE BOTH BUTTONS when you see this. In a few seconds your phone will reboot. All your apps will be there, all your passwords, etc. The only difference is that Siri will now work...

Hello! I'm from Germany, so please I apologize, if English is not so good! I have the same problem! And all done! The following I've noticed yet: When siri off voice control recognizes my voice. Waves knock out! Siri turned on also the dictation in the mail / news don't listen app voice! Video recording backwards voice which forward do not listen? Do you also have this malfunction? Lieben Gruß ....Lin

iphone 5 running ios 8.1.2 Siri can't hear me and can't use voice dictation unless I use a headset. Audio on front camera video does not work. Audio on back camera video does work. Recorder app works.

So sorry I upgraded my software. Wish Apple wouldn't push those updates on us. So has anyone found a solution short of getting a replacement phone? Is the genius bar replacing iphone 5's?

Matt,

Are you aware that this problem still exists for people upgrading from 7 to 8? I have an iPhone 5s with the identical symptoms described by other 5s users. This is on a phone that worked perfectly for the entire year prior to upgrading to iOS 8. Do you think there's any chance Apple will actually attempt to address this It is clearly not a hardware problem - for many, many users it began immediately after upgrading from 7 to 8.

Thanks,

Craig
