What exactly are you talking about?
Leave a Safari page open instead of leaving Safari in the thumbnails view.
Not sure what you mean
WWhen I open Safari on my iPad after upgrading, my favortices are seen and then a tiny grey line with Frequency Visited Websites underneath. I don't want these sites to show up every time I open Safari. I just want to see my favorites on the screen
I certainy don't see that, or any way to set it up.
CAn you post a screen shot?
HHaving a problem uploading I can I email it to you?
Yep, it finally showed up on mine this morning. New functionality (as far as I know) and there does not appear to be any way of turning it off. Also not sure what the threshold is for qualifying as Frequently Visited. You can prevent it by using Private Browsing, or periodically clear browser cache. On the other hand, it is at the bottom of the page and no real effect on anything, nor is it unusual - many browsers capture this type of information. Not sure it is worth worrying about.
Touch and hold the thumbnail, then let go. An option to delete should pop up.
Hello,
I installed iOS8 today and I have the same problem, I don't want that my most frequently visited websites appear on Safari because that's why I have the favourites tab. As you comment, you can delete the websites by holding and touching the delete button, but it's useless since every time you enter again to a website you deleted it appears again in the frequently visited websites..... So, I would like to know if there is an option where I can disable the option of Frequently visited websites.
Thanks in advance
No, there isn't
James Ward4 is right. There is no way to disable it. I reckon deleting them is a temporary fix. I have deleted mine, and so far no more have popped up. I guess all we can do is hope that Apple fixes this. If it bothers you too bad, you can always use a different browser.
Or use Private browsing.
This is irritating to me too. I don't have any embarrassing frequently visited websites, but if I needed an icon for a website I would make one! Like when gmail started making the multiple inboxes- I made my own coupon filters gmail, I don't need you to do it for me! The extra icons are a first world problem for sure but I would like them removed.
Also, the frequent websites are just places in websites I already have bookmarked. So it's not even that smart of a feature. See below.
I sent feedback to Apple. Hopefully this can be made optional soon.
Hello,
As someone suggested, I downloaded another browser, so I'm not using Safari anymore until this issue is fixed.
