"This app is no longer shared with you" message in Family Sharing

My daughter installed Minecraft PE through Family Sharing. When she tries to open it, she gets a warning message "This app is no longer shared with you. To use it, you must buy it from the App Store."

When she views it in the app store, it tells her she can download it for free because a family member has already purchased it. So she downloads it, and the cycle continues.

Any idea how to exit this loop?

I had Find my Friends installed from years ago on my iPad, don't use it, and I don't even think it is up to date.

I then installed Find my Friends on the new iPod Touch, using the shared family copy.

From then on, other apps seemed to work. It's so bizarre that these things could be related... I'm still suspicious that I've just got lucky somehow, and this isn't going to work for everyone.

Annabelle,

The Find My Friends trick did not work for me earlier today, but, now it did.

I had to open every app on the iPad that was not working. I found two more apps that were giving the same error message. So, I deleted those and I deleted any iBooks that were giving the error message as well. I then tried to re-download one of the offending apps and attempt to open. It did not work. So, I deleted it again and deleted the Find My Friends app. I then re-downloaded the Find My Friends app and then one of the offending apps. It finally worked. IBooks now work too.

So, it seems that the device has to be absolutely free of broken apps and books before Find My Friends is downloaded.

I hope it works for you.

I am having the same issue, and this is already insane... We need a big fix, not work arounds... Mine is happening with a contact manager - address book! it works fine and worked fineup until two days ago, now I am getting the same exact message from it on our shared plan! Apple needs to get on the ball here with release an update (or updates) to resolve the many bugs in this new iOS! For instamce, the bug that is freezing up the who system, to the point of needing a hard reboot, or the bug, that you literally have to shut down system settings, to get back into restrictions, if you have it passworded, and try to delete an app... Or the long pause (freeze) it now takes, when you try to actually delete an app!, AND the list goes on, an on, and on..., I feel as if I am using a Microsoft product now, not an Apple device and this is just unacceptable!

iTunes 12 doesn't make a difference but

Find my friends and a clove of garlic do...😝

Magically works on an old iPad where I did a fresh reinstall after erasing and restarting with my very same iCloud settings

Didn't work at the beginning but after the magic installation of the Find my friends

it works. What I think is part of the problem is a second iTunes account shared on the same device

that complicates everything. If you have any app downloaded from one of your children with his account you are busted

This is what I figured it out.

1 Eliminating the apps not yours ,

2 erasing everything from the ipad after having done a good backup without the apps involved

3 and then restarting the iPad restoring the backup without the wrong apps, works.

4 Installing Find my friends( doesn't work if you just share your location and don't have the app)

5 After that it's possible to install the apps that were causing trouble before

and even stop sharing your location

Somehow the system is writing somewhere the blessing for your to share with your family or not

It would be nice to know where and why Find my friends works

But for sure these days you cannot rely on Apple for helping you: in my case they even gave me wrong informations like books are not sharable anymore when is not true..like someone said earlier it looks that we are becoming Microsoftizided 👿

Tried unistalling, reinstalling, rebooting, signing in, signing out from my account, their account, finding and deleting all offending apps, till I was blue in the face! I was praying to Steve Jobs, that the update would resolve this issue and the other bugs, but NONE OF THE BUGS, that I have found have been fixed! iOS8.1.1, what did it FIX???? As of right now, I had to delete all non sharing apps from the iPhone 5s! What is odd, is none of the other devices he is using on this account are effected by this issue, and this issue wasn't even an issue until recently! If this is the new Apple under Mr Cook, I think I will go back to Microsoft, where I am not paying outrageous prices for devices that have these many bugs and issues!
