"This app is no longer shared with you" message in Family Sharing

My daughter installed Minecraft PE through Family Sharing. When she tries to open it, she gets a warning message "This app is no longer shared with you. To use it, you must buy it from the App Store."

When she views it in the app store, it tells her she can download it for free because a family member has already purchased it. So she downloads it, and the cycle continues.

Any idea how to exit this loop?

The same exact thing is happening to me. I am sharing with my bf. I downloaded TV shows, music and apps. Only the music works for me. All others say that they are no longer shared and to buy in the store. Tried to download Clash of Clans from shared, wouldn't work. Bought it from the store and it still said the same message. Have emailed Apple, will see what they respond.

What's going on Apple?!

I had the insane idea to buy a iPad air 2, giving my iPad air to my husband with whom I have family sharing.

Beside the touch-id that is great, I hate that the battery lasts less than on my ex iPad air: who cares about having an iPad 2 mm less thicker

and 40 grams lighter...anyway..at least I knew some of the issues but not this one.

Till last week everything on the old iPads was working like a charm. Then was still working with my new iPad and still his old one, than as soon as I set up the iPad air for him from his old backup the catastrophe struck us.

I tried the cable connection too, beside cleaning iCloud devices from both ours old iPad and checking that the right ones were in place , turning off and on App stores, on both iPads, same with iCloud. Even stop family sharing and restarted. Trying to invert the organizer and see if a new one would work better

being just the two of us it's easy. He still has his old one and there the family sharing still works in one way: for him

On mine no more books sharing, sigh, and on his no apps as well on mine.

Than I had the idea to set up his ipad as new..and started to download everything from scratch

Now his iPad is able to share my apps and my books

Mine not. I hope this could help someone at least one way

Thanks teerts, this was the solution for me!

Before I did iPad reset several times with no effect. Every time I did a new iPad setup (with apple ID as a family member) and then after installation of shared apps I got the "app is no longer shared..." for all apps (and similar also for iTunes movies).

Once I installed "Find My Friends" app as the first one after iPad setup, all other shared apps after installation started to work as expected.

Unfortunately, teerts solution did not work for me. In fact, I have tried most suggestions in this thread with no success. For my family........

1) organizer

2) parent/guardian

3) Apple id 3

4) Apple id 4

1, 2, & 3 can share each other's apps no with no problems. 1, 2, & 3 can share 4's apps. However, 4 cannot share anyone's apps. When 4 downloads anyone's apps, the apps download but the "FREE" button never changes to "OPEN". When 4 attempts to start the app, the error message that everyone has described, appears. When 4 visits the store to purchase the app as suggested by the error message, it downloads, once approval is given by 1 or 2, and appears in 4's purchases and runs normally. So, it is not "shared".

Is this similar to what most are seeing? Any word on a fix?

I am the organizer of our family sharing unit with my husband. While he's able to download books and apps from my purchases, when I try to do the same with the books, iBooks pops up the following message:

"This book is no longer shared with you. To read it you must buy it from the iBooks Store."

If I try to download his apps, I get the same kind of message

"This app is no longer shared with you'

A week ago everything was working fine.

Why he can buy new stuff that is credited to my card and I cannot get his stuff which I paid for?! iTunes recognize our family sharing indeed. I even get the email that he bought books or apps. But I cannot enjoy it.😠

I submitted the feedback

Well that's funny in a very, very sad kind of way. The fact that the organizer, who paid for the content of a family member, but, cannot download the content via "sharing" from the other family members, really tells me that this whole Family Sharing thing is really broken. Every week another issue pops up that I waste countless hours trying to solve. Now, Apple wants us to trust them with our photos..... I'm not so sure about that!

Trust them?!

Today I called Apple as a last resource. Almost two hours on the phone.

At first with one guy who told me I was with the wrong department.. there was no choice BTW

then he put me through another one that was wrong too

Everytime there was a waiting time of 5-7 minutes

Eventually , the 3rd time I end up with a very nice guy, willing to help.

Every suggestion he had I tried it already. Then he told me that he was going to talk to a senior advisor

After sometime he came back and told me that books are no longer shared and he advised me to reset everything from scratch for the apps

The senior advisor doesn't know a thing, so wrong. My husband still share my books, I downloaded one on his iPad from my account and went fine.

Jobs where are you?! Where is the quality control gone?! Desolation! 😢

Having much the same experience with Family Sharing as other people here. I have found a 'solution' that worked for me, but I have no idea why it has fixed things.

Setup: New iPod Touch, out of the box yesterday, and updated to iOS 8.1. I've set up Family Sharing yesterday, and added a new 'child account' for my kid. That account has been used for the iPod Touch.

Symptoms:

- iPod Touch can see and download music in iTunes. It shows up as being purchased by me. Songs play fine. Hooray.

- iPod Touch can see all the apps that I've purchased in the past, and can download them for free, but once they have installed, running any of them gives the 'This app is no longer shared' message, with an option to buy the app again. Going back to the store, the app is free, because I've already bought it. Installing again gives the same error message.

Things tried:

- Remove all the purchased apps, reinstall just one. Still doesn't work.

- Double check the app details on the store - they have 'Family sharing: Yes' in the details.

- Power off the iPod Touch, leave it off overnight. Try again in the morning, still doesn't work. Remove app, resintalll, still doesn't work.

- Sign out of the child account from the app store. Sign back in with the child account. Reinstall app... still doesn't work. Repeat a few times - sign out, sign in, delete, reinstall, delete, reinstall. Still get the error message.

Thing that worked:

- Remove all the purchased apps, install the Find My Friends app first. Hmm. It installed without asking for a password. That's different.

- The Find My Friends app runs fine, without the error message.

- Now installing a family shared app works. It runs fine, without the error message. Installing them still require the child account password (as expected), but they run now.

I've only tried a few apps, but they seem to be running.

I still think this is dodgy - why would installing the Find my Friends app before all others make other things work?

I'll try to post again if this 'solution' is permanent or just a glitch for now.

I did not test books earlier because I've been out all day. However, I now have, and everyone in my family can share books except the same person who can't share apps. So the senior advisor is wrong. Perhaps, he should read this from Apple's website,"Family Sharing is a new way to bring harmony to your family’s digital life. Up to six people in your family can share purchases from iTunes, iBooks, and the App Store without sharing accounts."

Could you please explain what the advisor meant by "reset everything from scratch for the apps"?

A question for everyone : do you have the new iTunes 12 or still 11.4?

I have a doubt that maybe it works better with the last iTunes somehow

My husband has the last one on his mac but I still have the older 11.4

One more consideration is that the Family sharing is not working on my iPhone either

as well as on a partition where I have Yosemite.

This is why I'm not so sure that

Erase all content and settings

would work .
