Problems with Airplay in iOS 8?

Anybody else lost the ability to stream audio to a third party speaker or receiver since upgrading to iOS 8? I have an Airplay compatible Pioneer receiver that I used to stream music to from my iPhone 5S without issue. Since upgrading to iOS 8, it's no longer an option in Control Center. Using iTunes on my MacBook Air, it still works fine. The receiver pops right up as an Airplay option and the music streams as it should.

So, I know it's not a wifi issue or anything wrong with my Pioneer receiver. I've started seeing this same issue pop up on some third party support sites from users who've upgraded to iOS 8 but haven't seen anything here on the Apple forums yet.

Hoping I'm not alone ... any ideas?

Updated both iphone 5s and ipad 4 to iOS8 last night...fool!

Anyway, iPad streams fine to my Fidelio Wifi speaker, but the 5s will only stream when the screen is unlocked and on, ie when a track has been playing for a minute and the screen autolocks, the sound stops. As soon as I swipe and unlock it continues playing. Also no sound if the mute switch is on, on the side, this never used to have an effect on music output...

It would appear that someone forgot to test the Airplay features out, or even provide an update on how to set up everything up with these enhancements. I spent about 3 hours trying to get the ATV to use airplay without a network. I even called Apple Care yesterday. Their technicians claimed they did not know anything about airplay without a network. Guess we will be waiting for software updates.

Yes, I am experiencing a similar problem. I upgraded an iPhone 5s and iPad 4th gen to iOS 8 and neither of the two are able to stream to my B&W AirPlay speakers. In contrast, devices with iOS 7 (an iPad mini, an iPhone 5s, 4s and 4) and my computers (Apple Macbook Pro and a Lenovo Thinkpad with iTunes) can see the speakers and stream music to them. What is weird is that both the devices that are loaded with iOS 8 can stream to my Apple TV and to a range of different Bluetooth speakers, but they cannot find any Airplay speakers connected to the router. I am convinced that like iOS 7, this version has been pushed out prematurely and mainly to meet the marketing department's requirements to have a new version to pair with the iPhone 6.

Same problem here. On my iPhone 5S there's no AirPlay icon in the swipe-up control center sheet. Can't therefore play music on my AirPort devices on my home network! Grrr! It sometimes returns after I reboot the phone, but just as soon disappears again. Apple should test these things before releasing new updates.

I have the same problem:

Since i upgraded to ios 8, i've been having some troubles with airplay icon on safari; it doesn't appear and the one way to activate it is through control center. Also notifications stay frozen on the display. someone is having these issues too?

Apple, please fix this problem (back to the past: airplay function)!

Yes, I have an iPad2 Wifi that now, after updating to iOS8 that will not see either Pioneer device for airplay streaming. However, oddly, my iPhone 4S and my iPod touch, both updated to iOS8 see both Pioneer devices (VSX-1122K and A3) just fine...only the iPad does not see them as an available Airplay device.

The iPad does show AppleTV as an available Airplay device.

All devices are connected to the same network.

Any solutions, Apple??
