IOS 8 won't sync music with itunes

After updating to IOS 8 on my Iphone 5, all of my music was removed. I tried resyncing it with Itunes - however once completed no new music has gone across.

Anyone know how to fix this??

I suspect that you have to be signed into iCloud now as well or nothing works correctly. We never use iCloud so I didn't sign in on my wife's phone... I was getting 'your phone is not set up' errors when I tried to manually backup. SO:

1) Signed into iCloud on the phone

2) Reboot phone

3) Reconnect to iTunes

4) Force Quit iPhoto as it struggles to read all the images on the phone

5) Click 'Manually manage music and videos' checkbox, found on the Summary tab once you have selected the phone.

6) Sync

7) Presto, tracks start copying over finally.

I've upgraded my iPhone to 8.1, updated Macbook Pro to Yosemite, updated iTunes, too. Everything is current and up to date.

I restored my phone to factory, iOS 8.1.

I disabled iTunes Match on the phone and in iTunes.

I'm currently about 2500 songs into a sync with 12,244 total. I'm hoping it completes without an issue (that is, includes all album art and metadata).

I'll post back to report if it will subsequently sync with no issues. It will take several hours to complete the transfer of 12,244 songs to the iPhone 6 Plus.

Wish me luck!

Warning biffnixx - the very first sync worked and I thought all the issues were resolved - it was when I did a second sync to add something to my phone that things went downhill.....I have finally gotten movies and music on my phone but I'm missing album artwork (btw 90% of my content is from iTunes) - I had to sync music - let that finish then do my videos. I kept getting the strange error that I was out of space although iTunes showed I had 14 gig in free space. I went to Manage Storage to just delete music from my phone and start over but it kept crashing (and I only had 8 gig of music at that time) so in the end I deleted apps that I didn't use from the phone so I could sink music and I had to delete more apps to sync videos. I will add the apps back once this all gets sorted out. I still have 14 gig of free space. I'm going to refrain from syncing until I'm sure this is fixed.

I have run all the updates on my computer including the new version of iTunes and iOS 8.1 on my new iPhone 6. No different than it was 3 weeks ago. I have 15,000 songs to sync. Won't do it. I'm glad I still have my 160gb iPod where all my music continues to reside (as well as my computer). My purchase of the 6 has been the worst purchase of my Apple experiences that started back in 2005. First bought an iPod, then an iPhone, then an iMac, 2 iPads and all the versions of the phone. Everything has worked perfectly. Until now. This is a huge disappointment. I would feel different if the company would at least acknowledge the problem.

I've always had the iPhones because of the music. A phone is a phone. Does anybody else have a system that catalogs music like iTunes? Wish I'd never started buying music from iTunes and stopped buying CDs. What a nightmare......

My problem started 2 nights ago. I am running Itunes 12 and the latest iOS 8 update as of last night. I went to sync my Ipad with my Windows PC and it got stuck on updating the apps. I let it sit for 5 hours and had no change. I had to force close the program because I was getting no response. When I opened my Ipad I noticed that all my music was gone. I went and physically updated all the apps on ITunes and then re connected my Ipad to sync and noticed that there was 20gb of "Other" on my Ipad. Nothing I did helped fix that. I ended up restoring my ipad and tried to re sync. Nothing happened. I found this thread last night and wish I would have know prior to trying to syncing.

Followed some of the advise on this thread and at least got my music back on my ipad.

What I did:

Turned off Bluetooth

Unchecked and re Checked Manually Manage Music

Unchecked and re Checked the box for changing the bit rate.

Was able to sync all music at that point but still missing some apps and artwork.

I have a job this week that I rely heavally on my ipad for I am really ****** off that I am wasting 30 plus hours trying to fix it. Apple PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM ASAP. I buy quality expensive products and this is what I have to deal with. This is unacceptable. A response would be appreciated.

I have been trying to synch my music to my iPhone 6 for two days now, if I don't succeed tonight it will be the end of the road for me and Apple.

Time to go explore other products and manufacturers - I don't have the time to deal with this... it was so easy before - check the playlist and click on apply... nothing has worked so far and I tried multiple tricks and tips in the thread.

Might just be my very last iPhone, this is ridiculous
