iMessage problems after ios 8 update

After ios 8 update many people in my company including me have had many issues with imessage - we use a group thread & after update iOS fails every imessage or only sends while on wifi. To fix the issue with imessage not working go to settings>Messages>turn off iMessage. Go back to settings & make sure you are logged in to iCloud. Settings>iCloud (click the banner at the top) enter your Apple ID password. Go back and turn iMessage back on. You may also have to delete threads and allow them to re appear. Hope this helps!

Fix for me.. (assuming imessage is turned on in settings etc..)


  1. find all green "messages" in the message history that should be sent as iMessages

    delete them one by one by holding you finger on the bubble and delete.

    • check after deleting each one if you can send an iMessage again (step 2)
  2. when you look at the message entry area it should read iMessage rather than Message

    (and once you type something the Send should be Blue rather than Green)..

    • if not keep deleting old green messages to contacts that you normally send iMessages (back to step 1)
